Everything in them is the same, just a different Controller...
How does the N64 Version receive a Perfect 10 and the Wii version a lousy 8.9?

over the years opinions of games may change. maybe they thought it was the best game back then now they think its not the best but good still.GalaxyMan93
Its aged pretty well, though, and is still a magnificent game.

yeah but opinions are opinions
The game has not aged well based on the standards of todays games which the game is rated upon.foxhound_fox
But isn't it unfair to rate a 9 year old game based on today's standards?

Not if it's being released and sold today.

Only if major changes are made to the gameplay.

If it's released again, then it is stacked up against whatever else is out there. That's the way it is.
The controller makes a difference in the score because I don't think the fans really like adapting to the new style, instead of using the N64 controller. The wii remote kind of takes away from the old school experience if that makes sense.Darkkend
That makes the most sense to me. Any time a game is rereleased on a system with a different controller, the game is going to suffer. It was made to be played on the N64 controller, so having to use the Wiimote would probably not be as intuitive for the game.
the answer is simple, the standards have been raised for video games
for example, in those days, camera problems were standard so nobody really cared; but now with the improvements, the old way seems, well, old
Well, it is almost a decade old and the Wii version actually does lose some functionality since the Stone of Agony doesn't work in that version. Also, it got about a 9, and that isn't bad at all.
On a related note... Welcome to 2007.
On another related note... Just be happy that Final Fantasy 7 isn't getting rereleased, because imagine all the "ZOMGXORS! 8.5 FROM LAMESPOT?!?!?" threads you would have to tread through. That's a game with an even crazier fanbase who also don't understand why their game doesn't hold up perfectly.

Hmm... while I doubt that was the reason (I agree with the "today's standards are higher" explanation even if I didn't agree with giving the N64Zelda a 10) I'd like to know what the controls on the VC were like. I don't have a Wii but I have an N64 and I want to know what the translation is between the controls on the N64 and the equivalent controls on the Wii VC controller.

the sad thing is that's exactly what would happen, lol

You guys do know that ou don't play N64 games with a Wiimote right? You can use a Classic Controller or a Gamecube controller, bt not the Wiimote. Please Log In to post.
