It doesn't feel the same does it? I don't think it will ever happen in quite the same way again.

well those years id say one of the best years... in gaming history... n64 had new line of games that came out and were great and i guess you can say it changed other games as well. the ps1 definetly got better since the n64 came out. right now looking at the xbox360 and ps3 and nintendo wii are trying to change motion controls in gaming because of how thewii was asuccess. its not about games any more or games. i still like some ofthe classic games more than games that are being made today

geneis vs snes was the best and closest rival though if you ask me. Mario vs Sonic = win. Ps1 vs N64 was a good rivalry too. N64 did 3d games a little better, and had faster loading, but Ps1 had higher quality music, longer cut scenes, and better textures (due to more storage space on CDs vs cartridges). N64 (as with all nintendo consoles) didnt have as many adult themed games either (only Resident Evil 2, but not 1 or 3). Twisted Metal on PS1 is one of the best games ever if u ask me. I played that game to death. I never really played a game on n64 that was as addicting though. But ps1 didnt have a platformer near the quality of Mario64. Crash bandicoot games are just frustrating from trial and error.

Awwww man i loved those cartrages of n64 its one of the best consoles, moving into the development of 3d adventure games which we all grew to love, the ps1 was good but memories of friends sitting down playing mario party and smash brothers for hours will last for ever,

i think in those days we liked gaming so much we didnt argue over ps1 vs n64 rather complemented both gaming systems

they were friendlier times, they were much more gameier times :)

Maybe I was just the right age at the time put I can't remember a more bitter rivalry then the Genesis-SNES. Though it probably has more to do with the fact that was the last gen that I only owned a single system. I suppose I felt a need to defend my choice at the time. I was more of the mediator for the N64 vs PS1 but I do remember some friends trading shots back in those days with the entire load times argument and the kid games thing. For me I loved the N64 for multi-player but it was hard to beat the rich stories that the extra storage of CD-ROM allowed for. I do see a rivalry going on these days but it just doesn't seem as apparent as either the Genesis Vs SNES or the N64 Vs PS1. Though SEGA really was the agitator I can't remember another company in the history of video games that bashed their competitors so hard publicly: throwing PS1 off buildings and what not lol.

No sadly we will not, gaming has become a much more boring scene now. It was better when it was still making heaps of breakthroughs like the 64 bit era and so forth.
