I say the ps2 free online online support cheap games free game thx to hd loader usb support huge library of games dvd drive cheap console B-boy
Well, when it was the current generation console, games were expensive ($50-$60) It did have a huge library of games though. DVD drive was good, and one upped Xbox by not requiring a special attachment to do it. It did have online support, and again, one upped Xbox until the 360 came out.
When it first came out and was the current generation though, it was NOT cheap. The first Christmas rush I believe the system was $300, $400.
Then it averaged around $200-250.
Currently, it's for sale for $99 new. It's pricing was average.
But PS2 is number two on my list. SNES is number one.
The SNES, IMO. It took everything the NES did and made it better. (And I loved my NES.) Better graphics, better sound, bigger & longer games, better controller, and took away that nasty blinking problem the NES had. The Nintendo exclusives made, arguably, their best outings on this system: Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Donkey Kong Country 1-3, Star Fox, Final Fantasy III, and others. And the Super Gameboy finally allowed you to play Game Boy games on your TV and in color (well, partial color, but it was better than green and darker green). And most of the multiplatform games of the era had their best versions on the SNES.
I think It's atough choice between Gamecube and PS2. Gamecube for games like:
Tales of Symphonia,Zelda Wind Wakor, F-Zero GX, Metroid prime, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Fire Emblem Path of Radiance
And PS2 for games like:
Tales of the Abyss, Tales of Legendia, Final Fantasy X, Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2
I can't choose!
I would have to say Dreamcast because it was the first system that when I first saw the games for it my jaw dropped to the floor and I had to take a second look to make sure I wasn't seeing things after that no other system has really amazed me like when I first booted up Soul Calibur and NFL 2K. Yeah the PS2 GC and xbox looked good but no other system that I can recall made such a giant leap forward in graphics, originality, online play, and fun from the previous generation.
There are some at the top of the list like the NES, Genesis, Dreamcast, Jaguar, but I would take the GameCube as my fav. It has more fantastic exclusive games than any other console. It had the fewest games of the last generation, but had the most top exclusive games. It's like the gift that just keeps on giving. I've been playing it constantly since I bought onea few months after it launched all those years ago.
Two Metroids (favorite game ever) Two Zeldas, Two Pikmin,Fav ever racing game F-Zero,2x Monkey Ball, Three Resident Evils (and all the others as ports) A bunch of my favorite ever RPGs - Skies of Arcadia, Paper Mario, 2x Baten Kaitos, Fire Emblem, Tales of Symphonia, Smash Bros, Eternal Darkness, 2x Rogue Squadron, just to name a few. Just as important it has so many exclusive games that would never be released on another console that are truly unique. Games like Animal crossing, Cubivore, Gotcha Force, Odama, Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, Chibi Robo etc. Some of my favorite games.
Simply put there are more of my favorite games on the GameCube than anything else. I've spent more time playing it than any other console too. I just finished playing Baten Kaitos Origins for the first time recently, what a fantastic game! The more Idig intothe library, themore great games I find to play on the Cube. I might run out of good GemCube games to play eventually, but there are a bunch more I want to get, so it jsut keeps going.
the PS1, it just seemed so ahead of the 16 bit consoles with it's 3D worlds, sound and cinematic flare and it was an absolute joy to explore every nook and cranny of these worlds
it also made my imagine with glee what would future consoles be like and what new possibilities they would deliver, something I always felt the PS2 fell short

I agree with this. I have been gaming for 23 years, and while I have enjoy consoles such as the NES tremendously, it was the Playstation that took gaming to a whole new level. Now while you said 3D, graphics, sounds and cinematic flair were all apsects to the PSX/PS1 that made it great, I will add that the PS1 made gaming alot more mature. These games added immersive grown up stories that to me to this day are just amongst the best told in gaming. The console had games that were darker such as Xenogears, Metal Gear Solid, Fear Effect 1 and 2, Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3, Vagrant Stories and various others that moved gaming into more mature territory. But it also had titles such as the Early Crash Bandicoot games, Jumping Flash, Tomba, Klonoa, and others that reminded us of the earlier days of gaming. The Playstation represented the best of gaming while moving it into the future. An amazing console! My favorite...
While my fave games are on the N64, I have to say the SNES. It was just a great console at the time, with tons of good games and great variation. PS2 may come close, but I never really liked the PS2 too much.

100% agreedsega saturn
to me it's the ultimate showcase of gaming passion. incredible exclusive games that are no where to be found on different consoles and no games that look like them either as well as the best period of arcade games we ever had with perfect ports of games like daytona usa, sega rally, virtua fighter 2, virtua cop games etc. these to me are always a huge factor as I love that part of sega
I love rpg's and saturn featured some of the best ones, shining force 3 and panzer dragoon saga are the best rpg's I've ever played.

it depends which ones, the ones from the model 2 arcade like Virtua Fighter 2 , Last Bronx, Sega Rally and Dead Or Alive ,were indeed not arcade perfect (though they were pretty close considering the specs of the model 2)Games from the S-TV board , like Die Hard Arcade, Athlete Kings and Winter Heat were arcade perfect , because the ST-V board was basically a Saturn arcade board.
sadly , before last gen , home consoles just couldn't compete with arcade hardware, at least the higher end hardware, with the exception of the Neo Geo, but its price reflected what it was capable of.
at any rate my top 3 systems would have to be.
1. PS1 - favourite games - MGS1 or FF7
-Varied selection of excellent games, and a very strong RPG library
2.PS2 - favourite games - MGS3 or FF10 -
varied selection of games, probably the most varied out of any system I can think of
3. Sega Saturn - favourite games - Panzer Dragoon Saga or Grandia. -
pretty much the best system for arcade games, and fighting games (in my opinion), also a very good RPG library

yeah , Ive bought all 3 scenarios, sadly all of them are in Japanese, but there is a detailed translation script online so its ok. besides, Scenario 2 and 3 were Japan only, and the English versions of Scenario 1 are very expensive, right now, Im on the last chapter of Scenario 1 , very good game, and it seems to only get better.[QUOTE="TheTrueMagusX1"][QUOTE="Darkman2007"] right now Im playing Shining Force 3 , Ive got all 3 parts (there were 3 games called Shining Force 3 ), and am planning to finish that. maybe after that, Ill play more of Xenogears.Darkman2007

its as much bias as it is lack of knowledge here is an example, in the GS review of Rouge Squadron on the N64, the reviewer says the N64 RAM expansion pack is a great add on for the N64 and makes a big difference. that same reviewer recently appeared on a Saturn video here on GS, where he said the Saturn's RAM cartridge was basically a waste of time. if you read some of the Saturn reviews you start noticing stuff like that.[QUOTE="TheTrueMagusX1"][QUOTE="Darkman2007"] is it needed : yes would it sell : no , it would get derided by critics because it was on the Saturn (there is alot of bias against the Saturn , both back then and even now) , and most gamers hate anything Sega unless its from the Mega Drive or even Dreamcast, regardless of which game it is.Darkman2007

One of my biggest games of the year as you know was Castlevania Lords of Shadow which got derided by critics for not being original enough, but these were the same critics that praise SoTN, which is a brilliant game, but lets be honest, it did the same thing that LoS did. It ripped another style of gameplay from another game series and used it to reinvent the series.

Also scenario 3 is almost done.
The PS1.It literally blew me away when i was a kid & it made me completely forget about the SNES & the rest of the consoles. For me it was & still is the most exciting thing ever, lol.All that adrenaline, energy, sci-fi & nostalgia mixed together, totally amazed me & transported me to a different world in which i still am.The PS1 had the highest impact on my life.
