you gave a game a 1 cause you cant beat it? why? if your young its because kids that havent played old games dont undertsand how much more difficult games were back then. the old games where the best for a reason. but seriously. if you cant beat mario, just use the warp pipes or somethin. it only takes 20 mins to beat it without the warps. less if you speed run it
You gave it a 1 simply because you couldn't beat it? :? That... might be the worst reason for a review score that I've ever heard... I beat that game when I was 4.
I have to admit, it's wasn't even the most challenging game in its day. Games these days must be far too easy if people can struggle with NES platformers. How I miss the old days!
Just read your review. You should really consider altering it as there is already a message on the community page that discusses the User Review Policy. As well as lacking depth, your review isn't helpful to anyone at all. You critisize the game, but offer little reasoning as to why that is and then you just spam to fill the 100 word count limit. That isn't a review, that's just some one venting fustration.

this is pretty much it. its not the easiest game but i've played tougher (don't ever play battletoads or ninja gaiden for the NES) i think what this person said is probably right. you're probably young and have played the 100's of incredibly easy games that are produced now and think replay value means "finding more hidden stuff" whereas back in the day replay value was playing it again because you still haven't beat it.

lol. when i was a kid i would always just keep fire mario till the end when bowser started with the hammers. or id just run straight through him. lol. i sucked at the jump timeing back then. lmao
I've beaten the game more times than I can count, my brothers and I still try to speed-run through it from time to time. It's possible for most players to beat it in under ten minutes with a lot of practise.

Well like EVERY other game out there, you could look up a walk-through on how to beat the game. What part are you stuck at? The last castle does have some tricks to it. If you dont go the right way, you'll just be going in circles. oh and btw, i have not beat any of the SMB game either, but I'm not big on beating games. I just play games for the fun of it, and if it's not fun, i play one of my other 140 games or something.
I don't mean to offend anyone here but my wife complains all the time too about not being able to beat it! So don't feel too bad. Practice makes perfect afterall....!

^ not every 4 year old can do it, but i figure if there are 6 year olds that can play mozarts entire works accurately i'm sure there are some 4 year olds that can beat smb1. i think video games back in the day conditioned us to learn the patterns and learn them quickly. i used to have a friend that could make it through the first 2 levels (1-1 and 1-2) with his eyes closed because he had the muscle memory down perfect.
