NEW FFXIII screenshots...taken from a Japanese manga magazine

Also, a few updates on the gameplay:

There are a few details about the game we have been able to decipher despite knowning no Japanese. There appears to be a very prominent red-headed female character that is reminiscent of Rikku from Final Fantasy X. The gameplay screens are hard to decode, as the menu system looks a bit different and disjointed by comparison to previous FF games. Also, FFXIII appears to stay the course set by FFXII by showing enemies on the field rather than throwing players into random battles.

Don't know for sure yet, but if the game's any indication so far, I think it's refreshing to have a female lead in the game like Terra in FFVI. FFVI is my favorite FF so hopefully FFXIII is like that.

Looks fantastic. The characters are just gorgeous.

If there's one game that will convince me to buy a next gen console, this would be it.

I took a Japanese language course in college but barely passed with a D. I know, pathetic, huh? :oops: Actually, the instructor was nice enough to give me a C, which was cool, but I know I either failed or got a D.

So that answers your question. LOL! :P

In other words, I wish, so that way I can play all the imports like Namco X Capcom and those weird JRPGs.

I sure hope what I'm seeing are pre-rendered cutscene shots....cause if not, :shock:! On another note, will there be in-game cutscenes for FFXIII?martialbullet

im glad to see that they are taking a few things from xii, like no random battles. even though xii may not be a fan favorite, you cant deny that it did some great things for the ff series.

and i dont know if id call either of those characters the lead. lightning may be the lead in the way vaan was the lead in xii. in recent interviews, ive heard that there wont be a definative "lead" character. each party member will have simlar time in the spot light and the player will get to follow the story of their favorite character.

or maybe i interpretted the interview wrong (it was fairly vague) and it will be something completely different. maybe the players choices will determine character's which storyline they follow. it seems less likely than the first option, but it would still pretty damn cool.

either way, i wouldnt expect it to be a game all about lightning in the way ffx was all about tidus.

And as much as I hated not getting information or screens of the game, getting these things suck just as much. It just makes me want the game now but we may not get it for another two years. :cry:

Yes Lighning is the main character, but this time Square Enix is trying to invovle all 6 characters, so they won't be minors like in other Final Fantasy, all of them will kind of have their own little story.Vann009

I've got no problem with turn based combat (Persona 3 was amazing and I am going to pick up Persona 4 in short order). But if FF13 has giants on an open plain ambushing the party every 15 seconds, I'm going to pass on it (at least at full price).

Actually you can choose whether or not you want to engage into battle, just like in Chrono Cross. It was even confirmed in the interview.

Leaked audio from Final Fantasy XIII Jump Festa trailer, I uploaded kind of late though, but here it is. There were two trailers shown(one's 3 minutes, the other 7 minutes), both of them had fighting in them.

Hopefully Square Enix will have remembered the key ingredients that MAKE a Final Fantasy.Although...the only one I didn't like was number ten. Tidus is way whiney.
