Right, so I'm a part time gamer and just bought a used PlayStation 2 and now I'm looking for a ridiculously fun multi-player game that I can enjoy with my best friend when he comes over. So, what's the best same-system (not online) multi-player game out there? Thanks for the help.

What kind of games do you like to play? The PS2 has an incredibly vast library, and I'm sure there's something that would suit your needs. You just need to be more specific.

Alright, let's try... Any game that doesn't take too long to learn but still has some depth to it. The problem with most games is that, since I own the game and play it more than my friend, I defeat him too easily and he loses interest. We like most generes, as long as they're well-humored and all in good fun. (nothing too morbid, and typically we don't like intense sports games, either.) I've owned a gamecube for a long time and some of our favorites have been Smash Bros., Mario Kart, etc...

Keep the advice coming!

Metal Slug Anthlogy and Marvel Ultimate Alliance are fun for co-op, Burnout 3: Takedown, Star Wars Battlefront 2

Get one of the Star Wars Battlefront games. That way you two can play with each other, on the same team. No worries about beating him easily. Timesplitters 2 and Future Perfect have a pretty good story co-op as well.

Timesplitters: Future Perfect has TONS of content. There's mini-games, tons of multiplayer modes, bots, and even a map editor. James Bond Nightfire also is a great game, as it includes bots.

The ps2 isnt a gamecube so dont expect very many party games, although there is one dropping later this month(I will post he name later.). Soul Calibur 3, DBZ BT2-3, and MK: Armageddon are great fighters that should easily eat up all your time. MK:A = Now when you tell your friend your going to rip off his arms and beat him to death with them you can mean it!!!

For shooters star wars battlefront 2 is wicked and has versus and co-op army vs army battles both on land and in space and you get to fight over planets. Timesplitters is cool and lets you make your own maps and objectives. The map maker is pretty basic but they do have really awesome seizure inducing lighting effects.

You got NFS:U2/MW for racing

For hack and slash you got Champions: Return to Arms, X-men Legends 2, and Samurai Warrior 2: Empires.

Let me go try to find that wierd party game comig out....

Check this party game out Dokapon Kingdom

I would spend all my time on the fighting games. Soul Calibur 3 in particular. You get about 1-2 seconds to do whatever you want after you kill off your opponent and you get to see short replays of the kill shot. If your both good the matches can be brutal.
