Alright, let's try... Any game that doesn't take too long to learn but still has some depth to it. The problem with most games is that, since I own the game and play it more than my friend, I defeat him too easily and he loses interest. We like most generes, as long as they're well-humored and all in good fun. (nothing too morbid, and typically we don't like intense sports games, either.) I've owned a gamecube for a long time and some of our favorites have been Smash Bros., Mario Kart, etc...
Keep the advice coming!
timesplitters 3 is a very fun multiplayer shooter, not with the blood and gore and it has funny stuff in it to try like the mini games
Metal Slug Anthlogy and Marvel Ultimate Alliance are fun for co-op, Burnout 3: Takedown, Star Wars Battlefront 2
The ps2 isnt a gamecube so dont expect very many party games, although there is one dropping later this month(I will post he name later.). Soul Calibur 3, DBZ BT2-3, and MK: Armageddon are great fighters that should easily eat up all your time. MK:A = Now when you tell your friend your going to rip off his arms and beat him to death with them you can mean it!!!
Check this party game out Dokapon Kingdom
I would spend all my time on the fighting games. Soul Calibur 3 in particular. You get about 1-2 seconds to do whatever you want after you kill off your opponent and you get to see short replays of the kill shot. If your both good the matches can be brutal.
