I've got a new girlfriend. It's been going great, thanks for asking.

However, when it comes to gaming (one of my favorite hobbies), there aren't any games in my x-box 360 library that we both enjoy. She apparently has this thing against simulated death.

We play a lot of NES together (Rampart, Super Mario Bros, and Tetris) and recently she's really gotten into some of my iPhone games (Flight Control and Lemonade Tycoon), but I don't have any games that two people can play simultaneously that don't involve assault rifles and headshots. I did try to get her into Portal once, but that game is confusing to someone who has never played an first-person game before.

She saw a few seconds of gameplay from the new Wii Super Mario Bros and she wanted to get it. Now, I don't have a Wii, nor is that game out yet. But basically she likes the idea of multiplayer platformers. And no, unfortunately I don't have a PS3 either, sackboys.

Anyone know of any games for Xbox 360 (maybe on Arcade?) that would be fun for her (and I)?

Pick up and play games usually work for me. Stuff like Rock Band and Guitar Hero work quite well. Also suprisingly, the LEGO games :P.
For Arcade? Not too sure, theres quite of retro-like games on there like MegaMan 9 and Roogoo.

Maybe you should try Fusion Frenzy, or Pure, but I'm still just surprised that you found a girl who likes any video games at all.

What does she thinks happens to all of those goombas when you flatten them? They are not just going to sleep. ;P

Well, I can't really speak too much for the 360 at the moment because all mine died but my girlfriend loves games like flower and pixeljunk eden on PS3. I would really check out the more casual games from the arcade. Maybe marble madness (awesome game when I had my 360) or Katamari or Bejeweled 2. Then again, my girlfriend loves gory games like Dead Space as well. I'm trying to subtly shift her from casual games like Bejeweled into hardcore games

The other thing is... first person games are a huge barrier to the non-gamer. Imagine trying to figure out those controls from square 1 again. I think controls are the biggest issue here. Games like flower where you can press any button and tilt the controller to move are perfect.

P.S. Congrats on the relationship

Try out the demo for Peggle on the 360 and see if she likes it. Even my dad liked it, and let's be honest, he's nowhere close to the definition of a gamer.

Good games to play with your GF:

Left4Dead
Rock Band/Guitar Hero
Fallout 3 (you don't have to kill anyone if you play right)

Apart from racing, fighting, music, and mario party games...... How about an rpg? There are rpg's that let you play 2 players. I don't really know what the 360 has since I don't play that console, but for example: FF remakes for the PS1 allowed 2 people to share characters in battle. Tales games also let you use multiple players (at least they did in Tales of symphonia for the GC, but I'm sure they made Tales games after that which probably have multiple players). If you have a PS2, how about champions of Norrath? It's kind of like a dungeon game. You play together to defeat monsters. Or gauntlet (once again I do not know what consoles it was released for) In other words, go to the 360 forum and ask if anyone knows of any multiplayer games that are similar to Gauntlet, Champions of Norrath, or Tales of Symphonia. This should get you a quick answer. Teenage mutant ninja turtle games, or that Ultimate Alliance Marvel game (where you use marvel superheroes to beat dungeons together). So to recap... You'll have to check if they're available on your system(s), and if not you might have to ask people if they know of games that are similar but.... Teenage Mutant ninja turtles Marvel ultimate alliance Tales games (like Tales of Symphonia). champions of norrath Gauntlet Monkey Island (or any recent point and click adventure game) Myst
