When Grand Theft Auto 3 came out in 2001 no one expected another one for at least a few years ... but Vice City came out exactly one year after GTA 3 did and it turned out to be a top notch game. I'm wondering if the next GTA will be set in Vice City and come out next year around October. It is very possible. I bet Rockstar has secretly been working on the next GTA for several months already. What are your thoughts?
It's a good possibility that there could be another GTA game by the end of next year. First they need to make at least 2 episodic content downloadables for the 360 version of GTA IV plus they may make some more downloadable content for all versions so that will take some time.
The idea of downloadable content is to keep milking your product for as long as possible. Half life did it splendidly. The reason no one is crying for a Half Life 3 is because they keep feeding us episodic content. Aside from a few new models, the game runs on exactly the same engine as the original game. Imagine making TONS of money for just a little extra content. To be honest, if I had it my way, I would say "screw the episodic content" and start working on a new GTA. I don't want to have to feel like a clearly more interesting experience (like going to vice city) is being put on the back burner simply because they're busy toying around with liberty city again.
Wasn't it said that the episodic content would essentially be what Vice City and San Andreas were to GTA3? Or was that debunked?flatline711
Actually, from what a lot of mags are saying, you play as some sort of biker guy doing missions around Liberty City. Any city other than Liberty was not talked about and is purely speculation

Oh yeah. I remember reading something about that in the rumor section of EGM awhile back. I'd be pretty disappointed if that turns out to be true. I really liked Niko and I would love to take him to Vice City and San Andreas. Oh well. Maybe a PC Mod will do that for me. :)
I believe thats cancelled, though im not 100% on that. Anyways I don't expect to see a new GTA until next generation and hopefully it wont be as bland and uninspired as IV. Everyone is so graphics horny this generation they seeminly overlooked the repitive gameplay and how the world was big and beautifull but you couldnt do **** all in the game besides pointless minigames. Some of the later missions were fun, and there is some good action hidden in the shallow friend system but it was definetly a case of been here down this for me.
I doubt it. Rockstar still owes MS DLC. I wouldn't be surprised if just just one more GTA hit this gen. Crafting a city (or maybe cities) and everything in it takes time.

Rockstar already has the game engine built so it will take less time then GTA IV did.
I heard a rumor that the next GTA game would feature Liberty City, Vice City and San Andreas all in once and that you could travel between them. Only rumor though but that would make it into a even larger sandbox game.
Thats what I am thinking as well and hopefully it'll be Vice City in the 80's early or late 80's doesn't matter. If it would be a sequel to Vice City that'll be cool or a whole new story with a new character all together will work as well.

it didn't even look like the same LC from gta 3 or LCS. it isn't that bad of a game.

Technically theres another game that has been at all 3 cities before GTa 3 and onwards. It's called Grand Theft Auto.
You also have GTA: Liberty city stories and Vice City stories so there are more then two games that are into the same city/cities.

If that was going to happen, it would have to be a ps3 exclusive. only blu ray can handle that amount of space. 360 could get it, but they would need more than one disc, trust me lol!

I think they'll make a country next. Something only Blu Ray can do. Everyone will have their own accent... maybe make the world next and turn it into an MMO game.

PC would be able to handle it aswell, but yeah I know what you mean. In any case it was only a rumor I've heard.
