I know I'm a little late on this but why are many of these next-gen games so shiny? In some cases its a good thing, while in others it leaves some games too bright and over-glossed. I don't know... Do you guys think that developers should go back to making darker games, or do you like the shiny make-over?

some newgames have dark graphics....the reason everyting was dark back in the day was bad graphics

They discovered the holy light known as bloom.Pessu

Bloom effects hide things like Jaggies (Halo 3) and low res textures (CoD4) and yet people think that it's "realistic looking" because of all the polish and shinyness.

You figure they could just put in some really good HDR lighting but nope, they just wanna slap brightly colored bloom everywhere.
