So, I head to my local thrift store with one goal and that was to find an A/V switch so I can plug all my consoles into my one tv. I'm searching under every single piece of junk on the shelf, and I can't find what I need.

Anyways I back away from the shelf, and I'm about to walk off when I see a box that says "Core System" on it (that was all that was visible to me).

Anyways those words caught my interest, but I wasn't sure what kind of surprise I was in for, so I crouch down, and push a few things out of the way and low and behold a boxed Sega Genesis is sitting in front of me! :D I made a post or two recently about how I have been scouting for a great deal on Ebay for one of these puppies, but was having no luck.

The thing cost $10. I figured if it was boxed then the owner probably had enough sense to take care of it too, so I grabbed it up quickly. Then headed over to my local Play N Trade, and the guy working there was so excited for me that he gave me a complete boxed version of Golden Axe to test out my new system for free.

So I think I made away with a steal. Boxed Genesis (No instructions sadly), with a six-button controller (this didn't come with this system originally), an original plug and r/f switch, and a complete great-condition Golden Axe game for $10 :D

btw it works flawlessly :D

That's a great deal, I've had some people give me nice deals like that. I never did own a Genesis though. By the way, Golden Axe is one of my favorite and most nostalgic beat em' ups of all time. I never owned the physical Genesis version, but have played it and used to own the Genesis port for Gameboy Advance.

Nice Find. If you exchange the N64 for a GameCube you'd be about tied with me :) - as far as older systems plugged into my old tv. I have NES, SNES, GameCube and PS2 plugged into 1 switch (vid1 on the tv) and 2 TV games (pac-man, ms pac-man), a dvd player and a VCR plugged into the other switch (vid2 on the tv) with the Dreamcast and Genesis plugged into the VCR. Finally, I have a "Power Player 128" - NES on a chip/famiclone plugged into my Front input. I recently got a stereo A/V cable for my Genesis and it really made a difference compared to RF. I see brighter colors and I hear better sound. RF is kinda muddy picture and muffled sound. Like he said, for $10 (I paid maybe $20 for my Philips brand one) you can get a switch box at Wal-Mart. The ones I use have rca/composite, s-video and component.

I wouldn't mind getting a Genesis for $10, although I haven't played one in a while.

thats not a bad deal at all. Usually you only get a deal on the console w/o any cords or controllers. then buying an AC adapter, AV cords and the controller cost you even more. now you just need to hit some yard sales on saturday morning. get some cheap sega games. and at yard sales you can always bargin with people.

Now that you have a Genesis, get a copy of "Twin Cobra"... your thumbs will hate you for it in a good way! :D

Well, I think I figured out why it was at a thrift store. :P

I turned it on today, and got this really fuzzy picture, so I was like "OH NO!!!!! ) and figured I would switch channels with the switch in the back. Well that little switch is broken off :P With a little tweaking the picture is perfect, so it's no biggie really. The system doesn't move when I play anyways.
