Stole this from out friendly and not so-friendly neighborhood System Wars:

Nintendo power, Magazine announce major SE title. US magazine.

"We'll kick off the next 20 years of Nintendo Power with more big reveals, including a top-secret cover story fit for a king. It's got a lot of heart."

http://i26.tinypic.com/2mwwba8.jpg

King + Heart = ....hmmmm...

And if you pre-order at Gamestop, you get a keyblade add-on for your Wii-Mote! :P

I agree. and gg copy and pasting a thread we already have.

Its not kingdom hearts for the wii- KH has no swords, and they have a contract to make console KH games only on sony systems, so the ps3 would have KH3, which wont come out because KH2 ended the KH series. Now we have spinoffs and prequels only.

If it did happen, they would just ruin it w/ the wii scheme- KH isn't the kind o fgame I'd play on my wii.

Um, they say "just kidding" right after saying "It's got a lot of Heart."

Given what is said there, it seems like the cover story is going to be regarding Project O/A King's Story...not Kingdom Heart.

If you noticed, why didn't you just tell us instead of going on a crazy rant? Do you even have proof of this contract?

So....you knew about it, and didn't comment on this yourself...why?

Furthermore, your earlier claim makes no sense, as there has been at least one Kingdom Hearts game made for a non-Sony platform (Chain of Memories for GBA), and there is at least one being made for the DS right now, so your claim that they're under 'contract' to make KH games only for Sony Platforms makes no sense...namely because it seems like it's at least a lie at worst, or misinformation at best.

yeah um i dont think there is an exclusivity contract. even during the entire ps/ps2 era sony didnt have an exclusivity contract for the final fantasy games. i doubt there was one for a much lower profile series from the same developer.

Kingdom Hearts 2 had a teaser for the next game in the series. Plus it's not like Square to turn their backs on a series that pulls in an obscene amount of money. We'll see #3 this gen.

That teaser was for Birth By Sleep... chronologically the first game in the series. Not everything was resolved in KH2 anyway... what did that letter say at the end, for example?

As long as it makes muny...Square-Enix and Disney, will keep making them.

And I honestly didn't know about the "Just kidding" part of the article. I just stole it from System Wars and treated it like a rumor.

Sorry.

KH puts up huge numbers in every territory and is the only franchise Squenix has that rivals the mainline FF games in popularity (Nomura's smooth blending of FF and Disney is quite an achievement). A sequel is coming and its probably coming for the Wii.

That being said, I got bored in the middle of KH2 and stopped playing, but I am 33 years old, so I am probably well outside its target demographic. Making the gameplay less button mashy would probably thrill guys like me, but cost hundreds of thousands if not millions of sales.

Playing KH on the Wii really doesn't appeal to me. I mean, for starters the graphics would be almost exactly the same as the PS2 >_

Well I will say that it could be either game or a completely a new game. I find it odd those who are quick to say no that its not KH3 and say its Little King's Story when it could be either. In any case Nintendo Power doesn't announce games that we don't already know about anyway (on the internet). I say we'll know more at E3 perhaps.

I beg to differ. I've kept up on the console wars for a long time. I devoured every piece of information available about the current consoles since the time they were first announced. It has been mentioned in the past that Sony had a seven-year contract of exclusivity with Square regarding the FInal Fantasy series. Ditto with Rock* for the GTA series.

No, it was a one-year exclusivity contract. That's why Sony published Tobal no. 1, Final Fantasy VII, and Final Fantasy Tactics. Once that year was up, Square could make games for whoever they wanted, but they didn't want to work on anything but PlayStation, and they wanted to make games for the GBA from the start, but it wasn't until they mended fences with Nintendo by making the GC-exclusive Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles that they could make games like Final Fantasy Tactics Advance.

I thought the contract was longer than one year and had another studio for CC to get round the contract.

As I said, I've kept up on the console wars for a long time. I'm sorry I can't recall waht issue it was in, but I once read an official interview in either EMG or Game Informer magazine quite a while ago in which the subject specifically stated that Sony and Square had a seven-year contract which had been signed sometime after the launch of the N64.

On a side-note, this has been a topic of heated debate for years. Square made it big developing FF titles for Nintendo. Years later, they turn their backs on them and when the exclussivity contract ran out, We got a (IMO) really corny and kiddie-looking Crystal Chronicles, not a real Final Fantasy game. Since than, I refuse to play any game made by Square.

*shrugs* We got an Akitoshi Kawazu game that has Final Fantasy in it's name. For gamers that are fans of Kawazu's works, like me, it was a fun experience, and when played in 4 player multiplayer, it was one of the most enjoyable experiences of the past generation for me. It wasn't the highest calibur title, but it wasn't as throwaway for me as others felt it to be.

To each their own. IMO, it was corny, the characters looked like Trolls and, as stated, it is not a true Final Fantasy game.
