I wish there was more of them today. I would like for a Final Fantasy game to return to the battle System of Final Fantasy X.

I miss them too. I loved Dragonquest 8, FF 7, Chrono Trigger ect.

But if you have a 360, then I highly suggest you buy Lost Odyssey. It's the best turn based rpg iv'e played.

Although I do love some of the modern RPGs out now with different and unique combat, I do really miss turn based RPGs as well.

Turn based RPGs are boss. I wish there were more of them. Old school 16 bit RPGs were the best.

I do still enjoy some turn based games like Persona and Neptunia. But I like action rpgs just as much so it doesn't really bother me personally.

Yeah, turn based RPGs are some of my favorite games. I tend to dislike the trend towards "action RPGs" where it's more like hack n' slash combat.

When it comes to video games, nothing, ever, will equal Fallout 2, for me.

Your best bet would be to get a handheld or embrace the indie Rpg scene on PC.

I miss them dearly, at thats left for me to play really is Pokemon :P I can still boot up all my older turn based games though :) It seems that most games today are fake turned based, or flat out real time combat. The old turn based RPGs were so much fun though! xP

I agree that there aren't enough of them, but you can expect their existence to be limited or underground because the majority of gamers today have no attention span. Many of them probably lack the intellect and strategy that is involved in playing a challenging turn-based RPG because they didn't grow up on them and have such little exposure to that style of game.

How come people always pull out that old argument that turn based RPGs somehow take more intellect and strategy? I've played a few action RPGs that took way more strategy than the turn based games I've played. I've also played turn based RPGs that are pretty easy for the most part, save for the hardest bosses which always demand strategy.

Also, its a stretch to say MANY gamers lack the intellect and strategy to play turn based RPGs. Its a video game, not rocket science. Even young children could learn how to play a turn based RPG fairly quickly.

I managed to beat games like the Xenosaga series, FFX, and FF X-2 all before the age of about 12, and I'm certainly not the brightest person around. I think this whole "turn based RPGs take so much more intelligence and strategy" is really overblown. Depends on the game mechanics as far as I see.

Its not that they lack the intellect, its the attention span they lack.

Also if you guys want turn based RPG's you should really get a Nintendo DS! Thats pretty much where they all went!! I wish there were more console RPG's though they have diminished quite a bit. I'll probably be getting Ni No Kuni and Tales of Xillia when they come out though.

Yeah, I want more Persona, Wild Arms and Grandia. Those games have the absolute BEST and most intuitive turn based combat systems.

I enjoy turn-based games but don't like JRPGs, which is unfortunate because most of the turn-based RPGs these days are JRPGs.

I'm hoping Wasteland 2 turns out to be good.
