I have never played oblivion before but since its like 30 dollars, i might get it. But i'm not sure if I should get it on the 360 or on the ps3. is there any difference between the 2? Oh and what is the coolest armor in the game.

You may as well get the GOTY edition. It includes Knights of the Nine & Shivering Isles in one package.
Good job not reading original post. Well anyway, word on the street is that the 360 looks better, but PS3 has slightly longer draw distance, slightly fewer loading times and slighter fewer number or sporadic loadings. You may as well get the GOTY edition. Can I ask why you specifically want it on console? If you haven't got a PC or more specifically a PC powerful enough to run it then fair enough, stop reading now. If however you do have a PC or if someone other than the author is reading this topic thinking they might get it too then definately get it on PC.
It is hands down the best version. The mod scene went mad for Oblivion and the hi-res texture packs are astounding, the extra content varies from the mental (like gambling on snail races) to the fantastic (such as Underdark which adds a whole sub-terranian universe to the game with weapons, armour and enemies). Even if you stop short of adding mods the game will take well over 100 hours to try out every last bit of content and I personally would choose to spend that time with the game in it's full PC splendour!
While I have it for the 360, I recommend you get it for the PS3.
While the 360 version might look a bit better, the PS3 version has shorter loading times and a lot of other stuff.
Also, one or two EXCELLENT songs (From the Original Soundtrack, of course) aren't present in the 360 version, while they are in the PS3 (and PC) version.
PC version > Console versions, though.
Oblivion GotY on the PS3 has a very bad glitch on the Vampirism Cure. It will never happen. You'll have to drop back to an earlier save if you contract the disease.
And no, the devs have flatly stated it won't ever be patched.
PC is the better bet: what with three Unofficial Patches that the 360 & PS3 can't have, plus thousands of player-made mods. The Unofficials (one for the game, one for the DLCs, one for the expansion) cure thousands of glitches left after the last Official Patch. The one for just Oblivion alone fixes over 1,800 bugs & glitches.
PC Oblivion has the Console: You can free a stuck character, resurrect a fallen companion, change the weather, go to any location in the game (without having to use exploits), go to any NPC in the game, bring any NPC alongside your character, add any item or weapon to your Inventory (regardless of your current level). You can even create a clone of your character.
You're stuck with all those bugs & glitches on 360 & PS3 that the Unofficials fix.

Get it for PC. Then you can get patches and not deal with bugs. And if you like mods there are hundreds of them... maybe thousands. Even if you don't like drastically modifying the game, there are some more subtle less drastic mods you can get. If you must get it for the console, it sounds like XBox is the way to go because of that vampire bug on the ps3 version.
I have it for Playstation 3 but I think you should probably get it for 360 because there are no trophies for it on PS3 and I think their might be more glitches on the PS3 version and 360 does have achievements for that game so if I was you I would get it for 360.
