I would have to say of all my legacy consoles my sega genesis and my ps2 are currently collecting the most dust. Used to have a ps1 till it broke and now it is sadly collecting dust in console heaven. which consoles of your collection do you play the least and why?

Atari 2600. I must've put that away 20+ years ago, and never played it again. I don't even know if I still have all the parts, or if it's working anymore. NES comes a close second.

Though I keep my N64 close to me and clean, I haven't played it in a while. My Dreamcast also sits in the corner. I'm kind of in a Gamecube phase right now, after beating so many good PS2 games.

Genesis. I got it with a 32x and about 10 games a few years ago at a garage sale for $15 and I rarely play it.

Playstation 2 - It is a great system but I just never feel the urge to pick up that controller. I'd rather play my GameCube or Xbox.

Sega Game Gear - Cruddy screen keeps me away mostly.

Currently the Sega Saturn it's the only one besides the n64 that has noticeable dust. Cleaned up my Genesis about a month ago so it looks fine but it is also quite the dust collector along with the ps2, saturn and N64. Though the PSone is probably played the least.

PS1, never use it since both my PS2 and PS3 can play PS1 games. Same goes for Gamecube because of the Wii.

My Dreamcast. Because I don't have any games (that I want to play) to go out of my way to turn it on.

probably Master System, just not enough games that I really have fun playing

though since I own a dog (a large breed as well) , I have to clean all the time, pretty much every 2 days or so, or else everything gets covered in dust no matter what

Atari 2600. The games are just too simplistic and basic when I have all these other options at my disposal. Once in a great while I might get in the mood for some Missile Command, but that's about it.

Same in regards to my Atari 7800. I used to sometimes pop-in Berzerk and see how far I could get, but after putting it in my closet several months ago for extra space, I just haven't had the urge to hook it back up. Maybe in a month or so I'll play me some Pole Position.

The original Gameboy since I can use the Gameboy color or Gameboy advance to play original games. Plus GBC and GBA don't take 4 AA batteries.

interestingly enough Ive had a similar experience with the early King's Quest games (ie, mid 80s games) , they are very archaic, which I suppose takes alot of the fun out of them for me. same reason why I didn't really care for the first Final Fantasy game either.

indeed, I was thinking at one point to get Prince of Persia and Lemmings on the SMS too , but eventually went for the Mega CD version of PoP and MD version of Lemmings and yes, PoP on the MCD is good, though its kind of a mixed bag, kind of odd.

I've only seen the FMVs on youtube, they were standard quality for the Mega CD

the FMVs aren't the bad thing. from an audio perspective the game is great (CD music) , but the visuals are mediocre, because the MCD version is based on the Japanese PC98 version as opposed to the MD original, so ironically, the MCD version ends up looking worse than the MD original. the Japanese origin of the game also leads to things looking a bit animeish :P www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJcrzx_7bP4 its one of the oddest ports Ive seen.

I'd say the GameCube. The primary controller port is broke. The PS2 is also idle. But, it's inside my desk drawer. So, no dust.

It used to be my Dreamcast, until I gave it to my brother :P Now its my PS1. With a PS3 and PS2 hooked up right now, there is absolutely no reason for me to hook up the PS1 since both consoles play PS1 games :P

It would have to be Dreamcast or the Intellivision; those are the only two systems I own that cannot be played at the moment because they are not hooked up at all.

The 2600 that's somewhere technically is collecting the most dust I'm sure. I also have an NES but no cables for it so that too is collecting dust and I don't even know if either of them work. The PSone is also in the mix since I put it back in its original box and into the closet when I got my PS3.

anyway, yeah the graphics are definately below par when compared to the Genesis version of Prince of Persia, which is funny, because I've always hated the soundtrack on the Genesis version, it's the reason why I was never able to play it for an extended amount of time

tell you what though , its still better looking (and obviously sounding) than the original computer versions, the PC version of PoP was one of the first games I played, and it was pretty basic (same went with the Amiga and ST versions too)

My Amstrad CPC, i haven't unpacked it for ooh.. about 15 years. Not even sure if it'll still work with all the moving around it's had.

But i'm going to go through the games today just to have a record of what i've got. Can't remember most of them.

I guess the reason why is emulation, i can find most of my fav games online to play through emulators on the pc. And i can't think of any games that i particularly miss playing.

(I don't think it really counts as a 'console', but it's still legacy)

actually the original version was on the Apple II , the game was coded for that system and later ported over to other systems and consoles.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=fggouSd3dr4

its arguably what saved the game from obscurity since the Apple II was more or less dead at that point (remember 1989 most people were either on an EGA/VGA PC , or an Amiga/Atari ST)
