Although I have nothing against consoles,I am solely a PC Gamer. My reason for saying "maybe I am weird" is this...I never have, and never plan to use "cheat codes". My best friend's usual response after I get/install a new game is "Lets look for codes!" I tell him if he wants codes, he can get his own computer and his own copy of the game. I prefer a game to be a challenge, and I also like to earn what I get (I guess 14 yrs in the military will do this to you lol). I was just curious if anyone else out there feels like I do.

I screw around with them after I beat the game, but I never use them otherwise. Besides, these days cheat codes have been renamed to "premium DLC" making them something you have to pay to get an unlock code for, (because it's already on the disc) has made not using them that much easier. Only a few games really have traditional cheat codes these days, like GTA4.

The only games that I cheated on were the GTA titles. My friends and I would complete each game without cheats and then just use them to cause chaos. I agree they can ruin the challenge of a game, but when that challenge has been met, they add a little bit of spice.

I don't know, I'm the complete opposite. I've enjoyed beating games without codes, but at the same time I've enjoyed many games much more when I cheated my whole way through. True it takes out the challenge but it's a great way to just unwind after a long day. Different strokes...

Games are meant to be beatable without cheats. So no reason to use cheats.

As soon as I conquer the game and such, beat it, obtain everything, etc, it is fun to screw around with cheats, like Goldeneye for example. So many fun cheats which makes everything hilarious like DK mode.

I guess I am somewhat like you, altho its not "just" cheats.

The main reason why I play games is to be challanged, in whatever way a game can, be it puzzles, twitch gameplay memorising patterns and such. I never really use cheats.

I love games that are challanging, (altho I Normaly dislike games made purely to hard, not because of gameplay, but because of design)

Games Like SS2, STALKER, some of the first rainbow six, platformers, survival horror and basicly all games that have puzzles, are my kind of game ^^

I like games where you have a very real chance of dying, and that it is not due to the game you die, but because you misjudged... challange I think...

I never really liked games that hold your hand, and treats you like a retard I really dont like lengthy tutorials explaining every little aspect of the game, and thus removing the thrills of figuring something out on your own.

I never really Liked Bioshock due to that, a fps where you cant die? really? nor am I a fan of health regeneration in most games.

Sometimes games are slightly bugged, and you might need a code, or command, that I am fine with (like the tendency to be stuck in Icewind dale)

Yeah have to agree with this i don't use cheats mainly for achievments and because there would be no point the game. I did use cheats on the earlier GTA's though.

cheat codes aren't evil; it really depends what you want from the game.

if i'm serious, and want to play for the challenge, i don't use them.

if it's a big multiplayer party game i really just got to play with my friends, then yeah, i will.

i'm more of a console gamer, so this might be different.

I'm a gamer that doesn't really like challenge. I don't play Ninja Gaiden or Forza for that reason. I like fun and somewhat uncomplicated. It used to be that I even played games on the Easy option. I use cheat codes to have fun in a game, more than what the standard rules might allow. Like in GoldenEye 007. Invincibility and Infinite Ammo and All Guns in the Facility level. I would spend hours in it killing Russian soldiers. Instead of focusing on remaining alive, I could just have fun in the game.

Thanks to all of you for your input. I expected to get blasted really bad for this. I agree with whatReiji-Arisu said: "Games are meant to be beatable without codes"
