Old classics that deserve a revival

Recently I have been focusing lots of my energy on older games that I remember from my child hood that really stuck with me throughout the years. I am not, nor have I ever been the most hardcore gamer out there, but I am a sucker for incredible storytelling and vivid imagery. I also am very moved by a good soundtrack. With the current generation we live in, there is no end to the capabilities of our new technologies and gaming engines, and developers of all shapes and sizes have virtually bridged the gap between the worlds of "video gaming" and "cinema." We can all admit that there have been some very impressive releases as of late, allowing us to dive further into our favored genres of games... so what I find myself pondering now is what about all the "greats" that have come to pass. I remember being moved in all the same ways back in the day with games that started our genres. I'd sit in my parents basement for hours and blast through RPGs like Turok and Summoner, however going back now days and revisiting these games, though very nostalgic, is just not as satisfying as all our current upgrades. So I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts. I have my own list of games I dream about getting a revamp, but I am curious to know what others out there that I may be missing, or haven't thought about. Let the discussing and reminiscing begin!

Dino Crisis 1 and 2.

Resident Evil 2 and 3.

Medievil 1 and 2.

Spyro games.

These games always come to my mind when someone mentions remakes. I grew up playing them and I still play them sometimes. I would like to see them remade only if it will do them justice.

Definitely Resident Evil 2 for sure. Psychonauts is one i've been wanting for a long time now.

Hopefully Witcher 3 gets a remaster soon.

@nerdfactorymn: Battlefront 2 and the original Timesplitters, everything else have gotten some sort of HD or remaster already

I played Blaster Master on the NES, and with the map that came with the original cartridge, the game is a blast.

...Get it? Anyway, I think a revival would be great for the game, but I doubt it'll happen anytime soon.

I think Capcom may give us some of these titles in years that are coming, they do good remakes/remasters. They are making money again, Resident Evil HD Remaster sold over 1mil and if Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster dose the same, then I'm sure we will see more of this. They also released DMC 4 Special Edition (I still need to play it) and that reminds me, Devil May Cry 1 and 2 anyone? That would be cool. Dino Crisis Remake or even Reboot would be a dream coming true. :)

Can't tell if this is for ports of classics 'yay' (Monkey Island, Spelunker, classic collections) or from the ground up-remakes 'mostly> boo' lest I remind us of (Dungeon Keeper mobile & Golden Axe Beast Rider)

A remake of theme hospital/park. By Peter Molyneux obviously. Or just new ones.

There are a LOT of good suggestions here! I would love to see a reboot of many of these! Especially Castlevania and Battle Toads! ...they actually did sort of re-make Double Dragon as an arcade game for X-Box live (not sure if its on other consoles) but it was alright

@The_Last_Ride: A battlefront remake would be cool but isn't as needed as other old classics because of the new Star Wars Battlefront,

A lot of games need to be revived. The devs need at least 2 years of development to revive the games stated or not stated in this thread. They could also just make them downloadable games.

Leave the classics alone! That goes for games, songs, movies, tv shows. We don't need new versions of these things because they're fine as they are, and re-doing them taints their memory.

I would love to see A tech romancer revival. Ditto for project justice.

Also another sonic adventure with ONLY SONIC.

If any of the games got a remake, or even some sort of HD remaster and a release on steam or new consoles I'd be happy.

A full on remake of Final Fantasy IV, V or VI (I know there is a DS version for IV I have the steam port, think the PSP version looks better)

A remake of any of these with good visuals would be awesome, doesn't have to FFXIII visuals, maybe cell shaded style.

my choice might be a little different , but i really wish to see V rally 2 game on this generation consoles. i have played all the need for speed games, gran turismo games etc, but always felt that v rally stood above all of them . its still is my favorite racing game . so many rally racing games also came but they never delivered that kind of attention to detail like v rally delivered.

Super Mario RPG would be pretty cool to see, but seeing Super Mario Sunshine in HD would be pretty sick, considering how good it looked anyway being on the gamecube.

I bought this game for the Playstation in its day, and liked it so much that I played it through 2 times. The story was really gripping and haunting. I liked the hero, Aya Brea; the story; the graphics; and the soundtrack. One concept I didn't like was **Spoiler Alert** one of the mutations of the final boss was a human fetus monster. In a remake of the game they should consider replacing the fetus mutation with a squid monster or something else (the encounter takes place offshore on a boat). Since I didn't read the books the game was based on, I don't know if such a change would deviate from the original story the game was inspired by. I also own Parasite Eve 2, but couldn't play it for more than a few hours since the gameplay changed.

I also really liked Jade Cacoon on the Playstation.
