Well I have a nice 32 in. LCD HDTV. Works fine with my xbox 360 and looks awsome. So the problem then is i just hooked my old ps2 up to it so I can play a few game I missed like FF12 and God of war 2. Well to put it simple it lookes like **** on this tv. I don't know why but the graphics are just blurry looking and really bad. And the picture dosent seem to want to take up the whole tv screen either. Just wonder if anyone has any idea's bout this. I did order some HD cables for my ps2 but i'm still waiting on them hopefully they fix the problems.

1. Most PS2 games are 480i

2. Make sure in the PS2s menu system, set one setting to smooth. I forget which.

3. Component cables will prolly weild the best picture. I've tried component a S_Video, but component works best

I might need to change my output to 480i on my tv then, I think there's an option for me to change that. shouldda thought of that. Just got the tv a few weeks ago and my xbox 360 auto configures to the tv guess i should have guessed the ps2 would take a bit of work.

thanks for the info.

When I had my PS2 I used component cables on my 32 inch LCD TV and it looked nice until I got my PS3 and connected to my LCD TV via a HDMI cable and it really made those PS2 games really look very very nice. The PS2 does a good job with component cables as long as everything is set-up correctly on the TV.

I have a 32" LCD HDTV and, trust me, those componant cables are not going to help much. I just stole my mom's old CRT TV and play my PS2 game on that. The difference was night and day. I mean God of War looked like garbage on my LCD, when I switched it to a CRT TV God of War turned from garbage to awesomeness, man!

What is the resolution on your LCD? My PS2 games look pretty bad on my 50" DLP. They are still playable though. The huge screen just makes those jaggies look as big as skittles.

I would definitely get component cables, but most of what you are describing sounds more like settings issues. Definitely change the settings in the PS2 system menu, but also play around with your TV's settings. My TV has four or five different picture settings to adjust for aspect ratio mismatches. You should be able to switch bewteeen 16:9, 4:3, and maybe even a few others like "zoom" and so on.

Feel free to shoot me a PM if you still can't get things looking good after tweaking the settings.

for some reason i got a point loss for a similar thread, so im reviving it, what do i do to make my ps2 games look as good as possible on my LCD HDTV, do i put the setting on the ps2 to a 16:9 output going from a 4:3 ratio, do i have to change the settings on my tv before playing like change it to 480p or 480i, and do component cables help?

My ps2 games also looks like crap when playing on my LCD HDTV, I can't play any fps for the ps2, because I can never see the enemy.

The best thing to do is get a bc ps3 to upgrade the resolution to hd to make them look decent. They never will without it. Even then you will still probably want to play them on an sdtv
