My first game was Jumpman on the PCJr. It was my only game for a long while and I never really got bored of it. I still break out the PCJr from time to time in honor of that game.

StarCraft, probably. It's hard to believe it's been 10 years now, even though I've played it between long periods of inactivity. I'll still play the occasional skirmish every now and then. Until SC2 arrives, that is. I'm 32, by the way.

That's hard to say. Not like I time anything.

City of Villains got massive amount of times for sure and it is a recent title. A civilisation title maybe. Romance of the three Kingdoms 2 maybe...Bandits King of Ancient China maybe...the gold boxes maybe...Joust maybe, but I am drunk when I play it, doesn't count! Heroes of Might and Magic II maybe...

Asteroid or Pac Man maybe...I was a kid then...

Glory for Aladda! Zarnix will fall! :P (haha try to guess the game!)

I'm 27. Can't believe it's been 10 years since Diablo--my first RPG and the first game I played online. It was also the first game I found myself playing till 3:30 AM one morning, and I remember thinking, "Wow, I can't believe I've stayed up so long playing this!"

The idea of battling together with a group of people online was such a novelty, not to mention the addictive nature of finding cool equipment and showing it off. Its sequel, Diablo 2, just wasn't a worthy enough successor, in my opinion.

While I'm not quite 30, I'd say that I fit into the "old-school" subset of gamers. I'm 26, but I've been playing since the early 80's, on the Atari my parents bought me. While I can't say that the games of the 80's are the ones that consumed most of my time, I did spend a great deal on them. Despite being "old-school", most of the games that took up the majority of my gaming time are the multiplayer ones that came out in the late 90's and early 00's.

  1. Command and Conquer: Red Alert: Way too many LAN games with my friends. We would have battles that would literally last 3-4 hours long.
  2. Goldeneye: If it wasn't Red Alert, we were playing 4-player deathmatch... we even went as far as creating a 4-player splitter made of cardboard so that we couldn't see each other's screens.
  3. Counterstrike: Not only did I play the original PC version for several years, the same could be said of the XBL version. In fact, I was once the number 1 player on XBL for this particular title.
  4. Return to Castle Wolfenstein: I bought an extra Xbox just to host dedicated servers!
  5. Ghost Recon: While this wasn't as good as CS or RTCW, it did allow for my friends and I to stay connected and continue our gaming habits from remote locations (by this time, they all joined the military while I was an undergrad).

As you can see, all of these games were multiplayer, but there are single-player games I poured enormous amounts of time into as well:

PC:

  1. Red Alert 2
  2. Counter Strike
  3. Tiberian Sun
  4. C&C 3

NES:

  1. TMNT 2
  2. SMB 3
  3. ZELDA
  4. Mike Tyson's Punch-Out

GEN:

  1. Street Fighter 2: CE
  2. Streets of Rage 2
  3. Streets of Rage 1
  4. Mortal Kombat

SNES:

  1. Zelda: LTTP
  2. SM World
  3. The Secret of Evermore
  4. TMNT: Turtles In Time

Sega CD:

  1. Lunar
  2. Jurassic Park
  3. Ground Zero Texas
  4. Some click-point game that was a lot like Blade Runner

Sega Saturn:

  1. Guardian Heroes (which Castle Crashers seems to borrow liberally from)
  2. Panzer Dragoon
  3. Fighter's Megamix
  4. Dragon Force

PSX:

  1. Final Fantasy 7
  2. Final Fantasy 9 (hated 8's system)
  3. Suikoden 2
  4. Red Alert: Retaliation (via system link)

N64:

  1. Goldeneye (hands DOWN!!!!)
  2. Mario Kart 64
  3. Zelda: Ocarina of Time (and was disappointed, because I thought/think LTTP is better)
  4. Battle Tanx

Dreamcast:

  1. Shenmue 1
  2. Skies of Arcadia
  3. Shenmue 2
  4. Marvel vs. Capcom 2

Xbox: (excluding XBL-centric games)

  1. Kotor 1
  2. Halo
  3. Kotor 2
  4. Fight Night

PS2:

  1. Suikoden 3
  2. Final Fantasy 10
  3. Dragon Quest 10
  4. Grandia 3

GC:

  1. Skies of Arcadia: Legends... I can't get enough of this game
  2. Resident Evil: Remake
  3. Resident Evil: 0
  4. Resident Evil 4

Xbox 360:

  1. Rainbow Six: Vegas
  2. Fight Night
  3. Mass Effect (to be honest, I miss Kotor)
  4. Halo 3 (yeah... I can't say that I liked how the series failed to recapture the magic of the first one)

I'm not 30 quite yet, but I'm older than your average gamer, for sure.

I remember playing the original Zelda on NES quite a bit, Street Fighter 2 incarnations on SNES, endlessly. Goldeneye on N64, too.

30 here....my very earliest gaming memories are of playing the Atari 2600 (E.T., Pitfall, Combat) and Coleco Vision as well as the Atari ST (Barbarian, Obliterator, Gauntlet and Hostage.)

If you're asking what game had me on the longest sitting for, it would probably be a toss-up between Star Wars Battlegrounds and Deus Ex. If you're asking what game I've been playing the longest, well, I do have the Intellivision Lives series for PS2, and I used to play on an actual Intellivision when I was a kid, so technically you could say I've been playing Astrosmash for the past 25 years or so.

For length of time for games I don't think I've played any games longer than Quake 3 Arena or PSO/Ver2 .For Q3, I probably hit 800+ hours into it. That game was running my life for a while and I was staying up late, and getting up early to get an extra hour here and there. PSO/Ver2 was the other one. Grinding forever grinding. I think my main lv 182 char had around 1200 hours into it

I'm not 30 yet but i'm getting there. :P

The first game I remember playing was an Asteroids clone on the ZX Spectrum.

The game I remember playing the most would probably be, Pyjamarama on the ZX Spectrum.

Elite, International Karate on the C64, Midwinter on the Amiga and Street Fighter II on SNES. Closely followed by Civilization and Heroes of M&M II on PC.

ninja gaiden for nes took up a lot of time. it took me about a month of consistent play time after school to beat it. every other game took me about 3 days or so to beat.

ng 2 and 3 also took up time but i found them much easier than the original. i've beaten all 3 games countless times. i can probably still plow through those games with no mercy if i play them today (even though i haven't played them in years)

i also enjoyed playing ducktales as a kid. that game was great.

The first game I played into the long hours of the night, usually with a couple friends, was Ultima III for the Commodore 64. It was the first RPG I had played that didn't involve dice, paper, nor pencil. That game was an absolute blast at the time.
