Yeah...so I got a job just for the sole purpose of buying a really high end PC...and gaming PC's are nothing without internet access right? right.
so i find out my parents wont let me get internet in my room...well ****! there goes the reason to get a PC. "Put the PC in a different room idiot!" well, im in a different room on my old PC. My dad is eating food literally right next to me, the TV is blaring, these distractions are annoying. It takes away from the gaming experience. I had headphones on listening to music, and i could hear the TV better than my music. This just pisses me off cuz i was looking forward to sooo many PC games...and theres no point without internet...
So, thats stupid ya? you think i should move the PC to a different room or should I just buy a console? Im pretty sure they would let me get a console cuz i cant browse the internet for pr0n(yeah, thats the reason, they havnt directly said it, but i know thats what their thinking).
iono...discuss, and tell me if u had a similar situation come up, and how u dealt with it.

Maybe you should get a gaming laptop so when you want to play singleplayer games you can in your bedroom, but for multiplayer games you'll have to use it in the other room with internet.

Just buy a console, but if you really want a PC in your room tell your parents you will pay for everything. That should work.

I am paying for everything. We already got DSL wired in the house, i just need to get that block box thingy, so it will work in my room. I would be paying for everything else. So that wont work.
The gaming laptop is out, cuz you cannot get close to gaming on a desktop PC with a laptop.

You'll definitely want to go wireless. Then just put the computer or console (whichever you choose) in your room. If your folks are still harsh about it, let them install a content blocker. But remember, no matter what your paying, their house, their rules. Thats life.

I know it's like telling on yourself, but show them the parent watch tools and install them yourself so they can check up on you & after a couple weeks with you just gaming and looking at the same stuff you looked at outside your room, i'm sure they won't check up on you at all unless they get a vibe that you're being sneaky. :)

My nephew was a super smart guy doing well in school until he got internet in his bedroom. Now he's up until the wee hours of the morning and sleeps all day on the weekends. He has dropped out of soccer, his marks suck, and it looks unlikely that he'll get into university next year unless he really turns it around.

Basically what I'm saying is sometimes Mama knows best.

Like oce said, your best bet is probably letting your parents install some kind of content filter. You would still be able to game on the PC all you wanted. If your parents still wouldn't let you put a PC in your room, I don't know what to tell you. :?
