Premise: I'm not a big MMO player, I played a few minor (free) ones in the past but never got in the WoW or Everquest thing. Maybe that's the reason I get so pissed at what this topic refers to:
I was playing a pretty unknown game called Shadowflare and I liked it, it's a good Diablo-like game and played it for a few hours, collecting about 18000 gold in the process (kept in two 10000 bags, each one considered as an inventory item).
The game is pretty easy at first so I hardly died from the beginning to a certain point where it got impossible for my current level: I found a room filled with monsters that ripped me apart. I respawn at the town and find out I lost the biggest bag with the hard earned money
"Damn" I say, and I warp back to the room where I died to get it back. The bag was nowhere to be found. Gone. 10000 gold.
Now, I know it's normal in most MMORPGS to receive an item loss penalty when you die, so that's not the problem. The problem is how it makes you feel what that happens. I mean, games are supposed to be fun and rewarding, not frustrate you by stealing your goods!
Guess I'm not in the right MMO spirit huh? If you want, tell us your MMORPG sad stories.
