One for me is no retry option after losing a boss fight. This is more towards rpgs. Having to return to the title screen to load a game save after losing to a boss is extremely tedious; especially against difficult bosses.

Also, having boring music in a game is just...boring. Good battle theme music and such can really set the atmosphere in a game. (kingdom Hearts for example) Imagine that game with the same battle theme music and bossmusic:shock:

I hate slow final boss game music. I get what they are trying to do, but I prefer to have the faster paced music to get me into the fight.

Getting hit by off screen projectiles. If I'm taking damage and can't immediately locate where it's coming from to remedy thesituation, I get really angry and call the game broken.

This is why I generally don't play first person shooters.

Not being able to choose between if you wanna play a guy or a girl. Yeah, that annoys the hell outta me but.... I still play the game.

Despite being a guy, I play girl characters a lot anyway, because I still like to see a girl that can kick major ass :P Hmmm biggest peeve for me would probably have to be opaque walls. If I have a free-range camera that I can turn and zoom in and out, I also want walls that go transparent if the camera is behind them. There's nothing more frustrating than trying to get a good camera angle, just to realize that it's impossible because your character is pressed up against the wall and the camera can't see through it.

I can't stand story-driven games where the protagonist is basically mute and without personality. If you ever see "..." as a line of dialog, there's a good chance I can't friggin' stand it.

Sometimes a blank slate type of character is nice, but I know what you mean. It is a little weird to play through a dialog heavy game like Persona 4 and never hear the protagonist's voice.

Random encounters in rpgs (getting ambushed by a 100 foot tall giant on an open plain) and sloppy AI in general really irritate me.

oooo how about gear that requires you to put forth hours upon hours of your time and effort to acquire it, only to find out that it sucks compared to what you're already wearing

Yeah, that was super-lame. It seems like Naughty isn't very good at finishing games these days -- the ending to Uncharted 1 blew too. And the bullet-sponging just made the weapons feel ineffectual, which was a problem carried over from the first game. I mean, you tack a 7.62x39 round in ANYONE'S chest and they're going down. I'm not saying the game has to be Rainbow Six or anything, but Jesus Christ, unloading five to ten rounds in a guy with a tank top on? GTFO.:P

When a designer places a no clip in either mid air or a tiny bit of debris. Use your imagination and find a decent way of blocking the player from going that way! D:

Oh yeah. I'm so annoyed at that final level stuff, especially those guys. The location was excellent, but those guys were not. Grrr.

As for me, I really hate all escort missions. From my small experience of Dead Rising, it has some very bad escort missions.

This. Shooters that you take a lot of damage from the ai from miles away an not being able to cause enough damage to the ai, keeps failing in killing them fast or missing. Like crysis. Or weapons being way too accurate and fake like cod WaW.

Unskippable cutscences and slow text, and when they're both together. It's especially annoying when you have to re-watch a cutscene after dying because of a boss battle (or any other reason, but usually bosses).

Bad voice acting generally ruins games for me. Most of the other stuff listed I can probably handle. But bad voice acting is like a complete immersion breakdown. I mean I don't NEED the voice acting to be great just at least passable.

In-game DLC salesmen and other similar annoyances destroys a game for me. Because when I play something like Dragon Age I want to immerse myself in the dark, gritty medieval world and having to quit mid-game just to download some "amazing" quest ruins everything for me. Same with Assassins Creed 2, just when the story picked up a good pace near the end you find out that two memory sequences are missing and get tons of information forced down your throat instead, only to be plopped into Rome afterwards. This completely knocked the game off balance and the fact that they removed the two memory sequences just to make more money worsened things.

Despite being a guy, I play girl characters a lot anyway, because I still like to see a girl that can kick major ass :P .

You must love Bioware games then^^ They usually include strong kickass women.

Among my biggest game annoyances is cheap AI; Enemies that know where you are all the time, enemies with infinite ammo, enemies that respawn infinitely until you run past a certain point, enemies that have perfect aim, enemies that are locked only onto the main player... Etc.

You would've hate the German version of Oblivion. The dub was absolutely horrid and they translated things wrong and forgot to translate some lines it was a mess and ruined the immersion. Seriously i could've translated it better.

Yeah this. You know there was a game on the Amiga that let you fly in and out of whole planets, and fly the circumference of the planet (although not quite to proportion) without any barriers or limitations of where you could go. Star Glider 2, now why didn't we build on that? Something went wrong somewhere down the line.

I absolutely despise games that make you go through a tedious training mode before you can acutally do anything in the game. They force your to play the game in a certain, difficult way, when you could much more easily play in a way that seems logical to you. They teach you skill you aren't going to need (or if you do need them , you won't until you're almost at the end of the game any way,) and just make the game less exciting to get in to.

Gran Turismo, i'm looking at you and your annoying as hell licences.

For sure, I can't even watch english dubbed versions of Japanese Anime since the context is all out. I'd much prefer subtitles. Besides, in Naruto for example, when they use a ninjitsu technique, it sounds pretty cool in its original language, but in english it actually sounds laughable. The fact that they dubbed it for young kids when the show is generally aimed at teenagers doesn't help.

When the L3 or R3 buttons count as buttons to use to skip cut scenes, since I fiddle with the analog sticks while idle and have occasionally skipped key scenes. I've slowly learned to not touch the controller when something important is happening. :P

Not having any save function and not having a checkpoint before a big fight when there isn't one like in Prince of Persia before the big fight in the lift. Well, there was one, but it didn't properly save, so whenever I went and tried again the next day or whenever I'd have to go through a big section before I got there :x
