I'm interested in playing SNES games at the cheapest price but willing to pay a little extra for the best controls and experience, however don't want to spend a lot of money total (not willing to spend over $10 per game on average for the whole thing). So what is the best way to do this, get original SNES, a Clone (do clones let you use original SNES controllers?), or buy the games on Virtual Console? So far I am interested in these games:

Super Mario World ($10 on eb/$8 on VC)
Super Mario World 2 Yoshis Island ($20 on eb/$8 on VC)
Super Mario All Stars
Super Mario RPG
Chrono Trigger
Earthbound
Super Metroid
Zelda 3
Final Fantasy 6
Star Fox
Stunt Race FX
Kirby's Dream Course
other Kirby games
F-zer0
Super Mario Kart
Super Punch Out
DKC 1-3

I would go with the VC using a classic controller or a gamecube controller.

The real console, IMO. Emulation is not 100% accurate. ...the audio just doesn't sound the same.

I bought a clone box, and it's by and large very good. The fit and finish of the hardware is a bit flimsy, but let's be real -- it's not rocket science going on in that box. The clones also work faithfully with the original SNES controllers, and come with two workable knockoffs (in most cases). The whole thing was $40, so it's relatively cheap, too. I would've been more open to using the VC if it wasn't tied to the Wii, which I've already boxed up and stuffed in the closet.

By Clone, do you mean something like the FC Twin system?

Best experience would have been to play these games as they released on the SNES but since you can't do that I would still recommend a SNES.

Getting the original console would make for a much more authentic experience. Just saying.

Go original bro. VC isnt a bad option though, as I think they just announced all the VC Wii games can be transfered over to the Wii U.

Get a model 1+at least an S-Video cable. Hook it up to a 4:3 CRT screen and experience the awesome. Emulators and clones suck.

Oh I did play them back in the day, but had to sell them all to afford new stuff. Now I want to play them again. So I did some research and I'm thinking of going original SNES, but some of the games are just too expensive. That means I'll need to go VC at least for some. But if they're really tied to the Wii console itself that means I'm **** out of luck if it breaks unless Nintendo really does come through and allow them to be transferred to WiiU, but I won't be buying a WiiU for at least a few years.

I want the best experience but I can't afford to just buy whatever I want. The other thing is that some of the games on VC I hear have changes made to them. And finally, SNES consoles aren't going to keep working for a lot longer, many of them not already broken may have 5-15 years left in them as well as the cartridges. Of course if a SNES fails at that point you could pick up a clone. Clones sound good for a cheap replacement that may have subtle problems.

A model 1 SNES, you mean the first run of the 1st or the model before the redesign? Where would you get good quality S-Video cables for it?

I do all three. I use my SNES when company comes over, and I use an FC Twin with a genuine SNES controller for my basement dwelling, although I have to switch back to the FC controller for NES games. I use VC for games that are too...valuable/inflated. I can either buy the Wild Guns cartridge for $70 or the VC version $10. Sold. .

It really all depends, but the VC has great NES and SNES emulation, so I have little complaints there - and the Classic Controller is a better controller to use. Otherwise, I won't use emulation; emulation on a PC stinks when you have the real thing, I've found.

That said, an FC Twin is great because it has 100% SNES compatibility, and I really don't notice a difference. Can't say the same for NES games, though. However, the better investment is the FC Twin 3-in-1 that also plays Genesis games. If you don't have Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, that would be more worth the while.

How come you don't use NES controller with the FC Twin? The Classic Controller is better than what? Thank you.

One, because you can't, and two, I'm glad. The NES controller was pretty painful after a couple hours with those square ends. The SNES controller is far superior for ergonomics alone, which is also why the Classic Controller also trumps the NES controller. Unfortunately, I only have one, but I have 3 Wii-motes, so I have enough to play co-op River City Ransom. Thank you.

Go with an Actual SNES, use the virtual console for games such as Crono Trigger or if you just can find a certain game. I've never used a clone Snes. Best the use the real one.

Virtual Console is the cheapest way so I suggest you should go for that. Besides it almost feels exactly the same like an Original SNES if you buy the classic controller.

If I go for an actual SNES where should I buy it from? How much should I spend (don't want to spend tons but want something that works and lasts)? And what should I look for/look out for?

I am all for the authentic experience but in terms of money I would go with VC. Getting a old SNES console can be a bit of a risk seeing as the condition of them can be very sketchy at times. I have had old consoles before that have died within weeks due to under laying faults, luckily for me I am experienced with electronics so I could repair them myself but if you are not confident with repairing a console on your own it could be costly.
