Out of all the consoles, classics like the NES, SNES, Genesis, Playstation, and the recent ones like the PS2, Xbox, Wii, ect., which console had the best games that you enjoyed playing the most?

My vote would be for the N64. So many great Mario games along with Banjo, Donkey Kong, and Bomberman. The runner up would either be the SNES.

Either the PlayStation or PlayStation 2 would get my vote. The FF games on the PS alone made it a force to be reckoned with. And the sheer number of games on both consoles made them the successes they turned out to be.

The question is a bit ambiguous, since it could refer to number of great games, or just quality. My guess is you'll be getting "SNES", "PlayStation", or "PS2" most of the time in answer. Let's not forget handhelds and the PC, though. As far as quantity goes, PC probably beats everything, since it's a constant, unlike each console, which only stays around for about 5-6 years.

Of course, the PS2 has some wonderful titles as well but it also has quite the load of trash to go along with it. The quality SNES and PS games far outnumber the amount of trash, thus putting them much higher on the list of "best list of best games."

Yeah I understand there's a wide variety, and every console has its good and bad games. I'm realy asking what console had the greatest games, not which had the best graphics or the most game releases. In other words, which console had you most favorite games on it?

PC would definetly win for quantity. It's been having game releases for many years.

I always loved the Sega! Sega Dreamcast ahh, that was great...untill they stopped supporting it after a few months lol.

But yes, i think the playstation (psone) was the revolutional console for me and my family with Tomb Raider being one of the first 3D enviroment games we played, and crash bandicoot!

N64 was great, but i've gone through soo many controllers when playing Mario Party haha and soo many blisters and so forth on my hands :/. lol!

My vote goes for the PSOne. It has some amazing RPGs, shooters (go find a copy of Einhander), platformers, and racers. There really isn't a genre that isn't represented well on the platform. It even popularized music and rythm games like PaRappa and But-A-Groove.

If you disregard backwards compatibility, I would go with the PS1 just over the SNES. The PS1 was an RPG renaissance. Square was putting out some of their all time best games, and Komani really stepped up their game as well with the Suikoden series, Vandal Hearts, and Azure Dreams. Plenty of other strong games in other genres. 2-D gaming sadly was pushed to the side which was certainly a mistake but overall it's the system I'd go with.

SNES, no doubt. Name any modern game, and I can one up it with an equivelant on the SNES. No RTS's, though :P.

Gotta be a toss up between the original NES and the PS1. With the NES, just think of how many classic franchises were spawned from that system. Can you think of games without super mario, zelda, metroid, castlevania, etc.. The PS1 was just the perfect portal for next generation gaming.
