I've heard good things about this game and i've tried looking for a copy to see what all the hype is about...thing is i can't seem to find one. So for those of you who've played this game, what's so good about it? I'm not sure if i should actually put forth the effort into getting a copy if its not worth it.

I'm also looking into eternal darkness, i know its an old game and was wondering if the gameplay still holds up as of now - i might get a copy of that as well

I was in the same boat as you. I actually found a decent used copy of Pikmin 2 today, instructions and box. I was playing it for a bit and it's kinda cool. You command the pikmin they kill, destroy and carry things so you can get more pikmin. I have only started so I can't really say how good it is or what else you can do. But I like it so far.

Try picking up the first Pikmin. It will show you what the series is all about, and it much cheaper and easier to find. The second one is definately better though.

Many people love Eternal Darkness but personally I couldn't get into it.

Eternal Darkness is a great game but the graphics were dated when it released back in 2003 and the controls feel very clunky today. In all honesty I would find it hard to recommend to someone today as it is one of those titles that really will only appeal to players that enjoyed it five years ago. The story in Eternal Darkness is excellent though.

As for Pikmin, it is a bit difficult to describe but I guess it would be best to describe it as a puzzle/platformer. For the most part you will be scouring the planet looking for treasure and figuring out which kind of Pikmin is best suited for the job. I really loved the Pikmin series and am totally excited for the, now announced, Wii version. The gameplay isn't for everyone though as it can be challenging and frustrating and (unlike many games today) does require you to think a little. If you are interested in quirky, inventive titles it is highly recommended, but if you are a more traditional gamer you may not enjoy enough to warrant the now high price tag.

sometimes you have to look REALLY hard to find it, go to possibly a gamestop of EB games and they might sell used ones and to tell you the truth, i have seen it at my TOYSRUS, ya thats right, toysrus still has it for some reason where i live, just check tons of different game stores, somewhere there should be a new or a used copy, good luck with finding it 8)

wow, i've called several eb games as well as mom and pop stores and none of them have a copy....didn't think it was this hard to find. Though judging by the comments here, it doesn't seem like a must-have game so i won't go to lengths to get one. I'll probably buy it if I happen to cross paths with it and the price is reasonable

You should definetely put forth the effort in at least playing Pikmen 2. Although it suffers from C-stick the mouse control other RTS games use, the gameplay was defined and easy to master.

While I would recommend finding Pikmen 1 first (mostly to use as a tutorial in how to play) Pikmen 2 is better than the original in every way possible. 2 Player mode is not a forced co-op, instead it is a learning experience in how to divide an army to do tasks fast. Much faster than one personcould alone.

hey i'd play it if i could but like i said, its pretty much impossible to find a copy of pikmin 2 at the moment and i doubt places like blockbuster would have a copy for rent
