I was looking to go buy another rpg. I have only played a handful of turnbased rpgs so i was just wondering which game you guys think offered the best turnbased battle system.

I've always thought that Silent Storm had the best/most complex turn-based combat.

The first two that come to mind are both PS1 games. Xenogears and Chrono Cross. Both games had somewhat unique turn based combat style.

From what I understand, Lost Oddessy has a pretty neat turn based battle style as well. Though I havent played it, so I wouldnt know personally.

SSI's silver box Krynn series, Battletech: The Crescent Hawk series, perhaps even Disgaea.

Personally I kinda liked the system used in the first Xenasaga. It annoyed me how they dumbed it down in the second installment.

Honestly? Penny Arcade Adventures pretty much has the turn-based battle system down pat.
