the faceoff,Play n trade VS.Gamestop. Variety:Gamestop has more selections with the PS2,Xbox 360 PS3 ect. but Play n trade has a better variety of systems to choose from. system trade ins:Gamestop only accepts trade ins on the PS2,PS3,Xbox 360,DS,DSlite,DSI,DSIXL,3DS and PSp,Play n trade will accept any system from the Magnavox odyssey to the PSvita(they will take a japaneese PSvita too!) return policy:Gamestop will allow you to return a used game you brought if its defective, non working or if you simply don't like it.Play n trade on the other hand, you cannot get a refund if the game dosent work, you can only get the money on a gift card. trade ins:Play n trade will give you the most cash on the non popular games.also Play n trade has sometimes ridiculous prices for there systems like $30 for a 32X and $30 for a genesis but some systems are reasonable like $10 for a Gameboy color and $7 for a Gameboy pocket. so although i like both Gamestop and Play n trade,Play n trade fits my needs because im kinda a retro gamer.

I'll give you my opinions of both: Gamestop: I respect their deals and sales I always get from the store, I like getting their magazine only because of the reviews and upcoming stuff. I like the fact that their store is basically anywhere, so it increases my chances of looking for a specific game, makes me happy :) I like the new Rewards system, where i can save my points and get more discounts or a free accessory :) I like the return policy as well, it has helped me out countless times and helps me save money. The only things I don't like is the trade-ins value, but they seem to bail me out a couple of times because of their trade-in offers like Trade in 2 games and get an extra 10 percent, which is nice :) Their game prices are decent for me. Play N Trade: Basically the same as Gamestop, except the PNTs in my area have the suckiest trade-in values ever, I mean I traded in an expensive game and only got 2 bucks for and he sold it 20 bucks right off the bat, I was very pissed that day, PNT rarely has sales on their games, I love the fact they have a disc cleaner, which I will occasionally use from them, by paying them 3 bucks per game, their system repair puts me at ease too. Their prices at least to me in the ones in my area, have bad prices, I mean I saw Hitman Blood Money for Xbox (original) for 20 bucks, and I was like did you guys have a price drop on this? because Gamestop doesn't sell Xbox games anymore and they would sell it for 5 bucks to me, and the employee made some stupid excuse by saying, oh it's the last Hitman for Xbox and it's worth something. They don't price match :( for me, yeah PNT's return policy blows but that's a franchise so it varies :P I don't like the fact that they try to make a market off very retro and rare games, I mean I wanted to buy Parasite Eve 2 (still don't have it :( ) and the guy said I'll sell it for 50 bucks, I said NO. If I had to choose between the stores, I'd go with Gamestop. I mean people rant about Gamestop all the time, but I honestly like (not love, because it has issues too :P) them the most because of the reasons I've said. Being a collector of retro to modern era of games, I'd go to the new store that just opened up near me, Game XChange, their prices are good and offer the same services Gamestop has (sells Retro, NEW, and Movies, which is basically perfect for me)

For one, I hate Gamestop; bad prices, bad customer service, bad (limited) selection. Virtually every independently owned game store within a 50-mile radius of me is better than Gamespot.

As for play n trade I've never actually been to one, however from what I've seen online they look like a pretty cool establishment. I'd love to see one pop up here at some point.

I haven't had a decent experience at Gamestop in a long time. There are several local stores in my area that are much better.

I like Play N Trade a little bit since they still have old Playstation games with a few old SNES games too.

Gamestop I mostly stick with to buy the hard to get PSP games like Disgaea since you cant find them at stores like Walmart.

Gamestop does have some decent prices here and there though. I have recently picked up a handfull of Gamecube games, and none of them were even $5. and sometimes they have some great deals here and there. but yeah the selection is limited and most of the other shops in my city are better. I like yardsales and amazon.com better too.

I've also never have been to a play n trade. if there was one here, i'd definately check it out. gamecrazy was great, but they went out of business.....
