I am going away to school next year and am wanting to bring my PS2 with me. I do not want to bring a tv with me. I was told I can get a portable dvd player with compenant cable hookups. Will this work with my PS2 or is there another way to get this done without a TV.

Thanks!

You could also buy a screen for the ps2, but very few stores sell them

It could possibly be more functional just to get a full TV and get cable too...

^^ this is the way to go. My brother just got something similar to this for X-mas. It should have all the ports and everything you need all put together. Just pug in and play.

You don't want to just get a tiny TV? If not, your best option is to get a VGA box so you can plug your PS2 into your computer monitor... I bought a portable DVD player to use as a Gamecube screen a long time ago, and I ended up returning it; the display was really fuzzy and had a ton of ghosting.

your laptop won't work as a monitor for gaming unless you're playing pc games on the computer. if you had a desktop computer and a monitor for that you could use the monitor and a vga hookup from your ps2 to the monitor and play away. you can do what you were saying about the portable dvd player thing, but make sure that it has a video input and not just a video out, but like someone said earlier, they don't make the best screens to game on. your best bet would be to buy a small tv. you can get 19" flatscreens for around $150 and they're very pretty and pretty much portable. a decent portable dvd player would run about the same. you're gonna need a plug or two to operate the ps2 anyway, might as well buy the tv and an extension cord while you're at it and enjoy gaming on a quality screen.

composites are more common then componant,

find a composite cable ,, and a portable dvd player, with composite inputs, i use my dvd player in the car/van i take that into hotels all the time, since i got it, i use it for ps2 3 snes 360 any console that uses red white and yellow in puts, includin nes, sega saturn and genesis i believe never had these,

i know dc did, but aside from those 2 consoles, that i know of oh and the atari 2600,

you should be able to play these

nes

snes

n64

gc

wii

dc

ps1

ps2-of course

ps3

360 and the original xbox,

saturn and genesis are questionable to me because i havent seen any around

so ya as long as you got composites not componant,

it should work ,

heck i used to use a gc tailored monitor sold at toys or us back in 2001-2004

with the av atachment,

any lcd with composite or monitor with composites will work if not get a 13 inch tv, most durabrand, walmart tvs have composites a much cheaper way if you dont have a portable dvd player with composites,

so if you cant which i think you can, find a dvd screen if you dont already own 1 with composites,

it will work ,

the one i have bought had 2 dvd players , it hooked to the back seat of a car/van or can be sit on table etc it comes with a car adaper wall adapter the strap 2 of each of course, and has the composites, also plays cds

it costed 179.99 in 2007 xmas i got it, i use it in town and country van , which also had its own dvd player,

but ya,

best option is small tv durabrand or any 13 inch tv the cheapest is the durabrand at walmart,

19 inch is to heavy/big so the last thing he wants is a heavy tv, 13 inch is light, in fact i have 2 of them , ones right next to me , i used to use it before i got the dvd player which is only 7 .5 inch screens,

so ya id go with a 13 inch , 6 more inches, than most portable dvd players at a fraction of the price youd pay for what i got,
