Does anyone else have a habit of playing games that you just aren't good at? I bought Silent Hunter 3, and even though I was horrible at it, I went ahead and bought SH 4, and have SH 5 on my wish list. Am I just weird, a glutton for punishment, or hoping I will get better? I can't figure out whyI do this,I just wondered if anyone else did. I can't help it...I like the SH games.:?

Yeah I tend to. I know this is different - but I'm terrible at the FIFA Games. yet I still buy the newest instalment every year. Suppose you don't have to be great a game to enjoy it.

With every game I own or have played, I've strived to become better at it. So every game I've played I'm either average or excel in, because I can't stand sucking at them.

So, any game I'm no good at, I haven't played for more than 5 minutes.

Yes. For everything there is a first time. I start weak then make progress until I totally master the game... It's more fun than just playing a RTS game, where I can annihilate whoever it is...

Yep. I love Street Fighter. Got 4 and will probably get Super SF4 when it comes out. Have the fight stick. But... I'm just terrible at the game. Love it. I'm just not good at it.

Actually, this. I'm not that skilled at gaming, but I keep trying. I've noticed a lot of improvement in myself over the past few years, too.

I'm pretty bad at everything. Just bought one last night that I'm awful at (Forza 3) but I still am liking it. You don't really have to be good at a game to like the game.

Im way too competitive to play games I'm bad at in public but when I'm alone I'll break out the Forza or NFS and be terrible alone (I'm really bad at racing games)

In my view it doesn't matter how good you are at a game, but how much fun you have playing it. If you're not having fun, then stop playing, but if it gives you hours of enjoyment, then it was a worthwhile purchase.

I'm really bad at RPGs, but that does not stop them from being my favorite genre. Just because you aren't good at something doesn't mean you can't enjoy it.

on all my games i start on easy (i know noobish) if a game is special ill start raising the difficulty until i beat it at the hardest mode. the only game that i love but i dont upgrade the difficulty is oblivion. i guess its because after playing 100 hours on easy switching to normal seems like hard. ( i remember just running from all my fights.)

I'll tell you this, Every FPS and RTS I went online with I was just awful at. In FPS games such as counter-strike, I die probably the most times out of anyone in the server. Same with Team Fortress 2, and with starcraft...don't even want to go there :) I would say the only real games I am good at are probably Super C on the NES and Chrono Trigger for the SNES.

I am getting older and these days..I don't really care much at all about improving my skill on games. I just play to have fun, and if I don't beat them I could care less. Its all about the experience and having fun. Plus I don't have nearly the time anymore to "master" my skills :).

I am not very good at fighting games, but I still enjoy SFIV and BlazBlue. Also starting to lose my touch in FPS. I've become just not good at them anymore. Probably from the massive amount of RPGs I've been playing.

Yeah I must admit I do. I know I'm not great at Skate 2 for example but I bought that after playing the first one. I also bought Operation Flashpoint DR knowing full well I'd likely be rubbish at it. But I love those realistic shooters so I also knew that I'd put the time into the game and practice.

I play SF4 with friends alot, I always get brutally owned but then again I don't play it as much as they do.

Also, get Silent Hill 1 and 2, best of the series.

This is the perfect answer. I feel the same, though I am pretty decent at most games.
