Playstation 3 - Can I play this game? (Japanese game)

To my knowledge games are region free. The only thing that will change is the language (for some games), and the online server you'll be connecting to. For example, MGO (Metal Gear Online), the US version will connect to the US servers, Japan version will connect to the Japan servers, etc.

you can play it, but there's no english translation. might as well just stick to the localized yakuza games for now.

You can play anything that isn't Persona 4 Arena.

Check out Way of the Samurai 4 which launched in the west on PS3 in 2012. It's a little on the silly side, but I've heard it is plenty of fun (though flawed).

@OandA_Pest: Yeah, the game is region-free. I played it fine on a PAL/UK PS3 with...almost no problem.

There are some issues with the X/O button getting confused though. Some menus in the game use your system settings to determine confirm/cancel and others use the JPN game settings. This can get confusing because sometimes the in-game UI changes to reflect the change in controls...and sometimes it doesn't. You will occasionally back out of a menu you didn't mean to. Or I might be getting confused with another RGG game here.

What he said. I have it and it plays fine on a US PS3, but it's a pretty dialog heavy game like all the Yakuza titles.
