You see
I'm against censorship, saying that video games cause violent acts in people today, that GTA is the devil, etc.
But this video was perfectly fine. Obviously you don't want your eight or nine year old child playing CoD 4. But other parents might not know what that game is about... and this video will help them.
It wasn't saying that violent video games are bad, seeing as how the guy said he had alot of fun with them. It's saying they are bad for really young kids, hence the ESRB ratings.
grrr
somebody gonna get hurt real bad !

lol russel peters roks! but yea, i somewhat agree with the video that parents should be involved and be aware of what kinds of games their kids are playing. so in the end, you can finally blame the parents and not the gaming industry for the kids behavior and actions. besides, odds are the parents are dishing out the cash to purchase the games for their kids, dunno why video games get so mych heat.
WTF is your problem?
I didn´t see that he gave wrong information and really spoke out of experience with the games. He named true and honest reasons why he thinks that kids shouldn´t play COD4 for example. If I had a 8 year old kid he shouldn´t play Halo,CoD4 or Heavenly Sword for example. It´s Parents-TV (Didin´t know it before)...it´s not only about 14 year old kids,It´s about pretty small children too.Ever thought about it?
What was so blood boiling it wasn't like said games are evil peadophiles use them ass a form of teloportation device into child room.
They said the games has some content in that is a bit mature they sort of were a bit more sensible saying well the ratings are adviseable but telling parents too parent better be more involved in what there child is playing and have fun with them.
I was a bit surprised that Zelda was one to stay away from. Well I guess for a 4 year old cause he says that it has scary monsters.Nifty_Shark
I don't think they mean that you should keep like a 13-year-old away from it. They're more talking about really young kids. Speaking from my own experience, I think it's good advice. When I was 6 and was playing Super Mario Bros. 3, I always had to get my mom to do the fortress stages for me because I found them too scary. That's the kind of thing they're talking about.

Exactly. A T rating is analogous to a PG-13 rating, and you don't want 6, 7, and 8 year olds to be playing those without knowing what's in the game. Compare that to an E rating, which is like G, or an E-10 rating, which is like PG. I wish they'd explain the ratings clearly like that. :(What is making your blood boil?
He discribes the games quite well.
CoD4 if your kids arent small and have seen mature movies etc
Halo for pretty much for anyone except small chidlren
Viva Pinata for... well small kids
Mario for everyone
Zelda not for the ones whos hight does not reach your knees
Ratchet & Clank again for everyone except small children
And finally heavenly sword for teens.
Hell im a gamer and agree with him. He didnt bash games, the industry nor did he say anything that is not true. Hell I wouldnt like to have my kids playing Cod4 if they were like 4 years old.
Looks like Parents TV is a paragon of journalism compared to Fox News. Well, I have no real objections with the video, the guy kept it short and informative for a parent that is only just now realizing how popular these things are. I just wish they emphasized more the fact that games like Halo 3 aren't only big because kids buy tham and hide them under their beds. They're big because their target audience buys them, and that's at least 17+.
Oh, and was Heavenly Sword really so big in the US? Heads rolling all over the place? I don't recall that.
I played Doom everyday when I was 12. CoD4 is like Disneyland compared to Doom.SKaREO
I played it too when I was around 11 or 12 BUT you can´t compare Doom 1 or 2 to CoD4!CoD4 is much more shocking and realistic and Kids these days are different. It a whole different thing and much more intense intense.
In all honesty, that had to be the fairest, most informative, and downright best explanations of what parents should be looking out for in video games. What's the harm in a little help from a TV program to possibly educate non-gamer parents about a hobby they're not very familiar with?
I had no idea that I, a 20-something parent/video-game-aholic, am destroying video games! Thanks for the heads-up, though. I'll try and cut back.
What's the matter? Has mummy just banned you from getting the new GTA when it comes out or something?
Not being funny, but I think parents should be involved. I wouldn't want my son leaning about drugs & prostitutes at the age of 9 or 10 by playing GTA. I think it's more harmfull to the gaming community for parents NOT to have a clue about what they're buying for their children. You wouldn't buy your kids an X rated film, would you? Gone are the days of games being a kids pastime, they now cater for all ages, and games meant for adults are just that, for adults.

How are kids these days different? Kids of today are no different from kids of your generation. They may have more access to things you didn't see as a child, but that doesn't make the kids themselves different.
I don't care to watch that video, but I'm sure this video is much more informative.

xD I remember when my cousin was really young, he found some of the later stages that had tanks and darkness scary, so he had to have my older sister reassure him about that.[QUOTE="Ash2X"][QUOTE="SKaREO"]I played Doom everyday when I was 12. CoD4 is like Disneyland compared to Doom.JerseyJ2007

But Games today are different and are a whole other overall experience. And Kinds these days change of course, because the circumstances they live in are different.
I thought it was a good informative video actually. Just simple tips like viva pinata for small kids, so older kids can play halo or call of duty 4 later on the day is just very helpful. Of course, I wonder if parents can't do without help just looking at what the games are rated at, but even then, parents knowing what they buy is a good thing. The reason violent games are being attacked is usually "what if your kids play it", and these people just make sure those games don't get to the kids.
Oh, and one more thing, it's nice to see that this advice is actually coming from a gamer. After all, he gave credits to COD4 at the start. It only makes my blood boil if people giving gaming advice have actually never touched a game.
