Please Help.. general gaming question. Thx

Ok.. so I have play for over 20 years, but this is a noobie question. The only genre that I KNOW how to tell apart is Horror adventure/action. (well and plataformer, fighting...)

I like a bunch of others genre, but I do not know which one is one. And when I go into forums I noticed this every time :cry: . I have try to find teh defenition on google, wikipedia. And nowi t seems I "know" the defenition but can not put the games under the correct genre.

So any help??

How do you know which one is RPG (e.g. why FF revenant wings is not one?? :? ) which one are strategies (e.g. FF RW is one :? ) Which one are a mix?? And RPG vs Adventure games :? :shock:

RPG's tend to have a few distinguishing characteristics, leveling up, epic end of world storyline and alot of them tend to be japanese (not counting mass effect) easiest way to tell is if you have a party of about 3 characters that level up and gain expericence after fights, thats an rpg. also if its longer than 20 hours, its probably an rpg! lol

Strategy games generally involve large armies battleing on large battlefields, FF revenant wings is a RTS (real time strategy) becuase you have an army of creatures that fight for you. Generally they are viewed from a top perspective too, looking over the battlefield and feature the ability to build bases though that dont have to have base building in them.

Ooooohhhh.... so is really rare to have a game that is a mix of RPG and Strategie.. unless they make one that you can level up teh army/comander of the army :lol: Dude thx, you put it so simple. :D

and... Hmmmm... about the adventure vs RPG thing... why some dif between them?? an RPG is not an adventure, but leveling and with a party??

not as rare as you might thing, Final Fantasy tactics is a a stragey RPG as is disgea (might have spelt that wrong) but they verge closer to RPG than RTS, and generally are turn based.

Adventure games tend to be more like action games, stuff like tomb raider, RPG's are adventures, but the story is more epic and world threatening, and concern more than one person. To compare to films, its LOTR's are RPG but bad boys is adventure. very basically like! adventures are more action orientated basically

now I know that my favs genre are: horror, adventure and RPGs. And i enjoy some RTS. :D

BTW: rosesforever: I LOVE horror, only reason why I got a ps2 are SH and FF series :D andof course some lil extra horror that the system have :P
