...not in the traditional sense, anyway.

I really enjoyed Bioshock. It was a wonderful gaming experience, because it gave you a real story with a real atmosphere, and a real world that mattered. But that story has been told.

If they want to cash in (not in a bad way) on their original IP, I'm all for it. They deserve the success of sequels...so if they want to make Bioshock 2...go for it. But, please -- don't make it from this storyline. Don't make it about rapture. Make, instead, a spiritual successor -- A new idea, using the same kinds of engine or gameplay elements, but not just picking up where the last story left off.

Well, they did mention using the Grand Theft Auto model which would imply a brand new storyline and setting. But I really don't like how they're already talking about it as a "franchise". Do the sequel if Irrational wants to do one, if they have ideas and are enthused about it - don't force and pigeonhole them in becoming a BioShock developer. I'd also wish they'd give Rockstar North a break to try and do something new like with Manhunt.

I don't think you can continue from the story. All of the endings didn't seem to have that questioning follow through (maybe the evil) so if they do make it they could use it so theres another hidden city, but this one is still used by the government... blah blah blah man I make no sense.

System Shock 2 was better than System Shock 1, right? What makes you so skeptical here?

Everything has to be a damn franchise these days, if a game is succesfull you can expect it to be whored out until the milk runs dry. I cant say im even a little surprised by this, infact I suspected it. I vote for no sequel at all, in any form. If they are talented enough to make this game they can do something new thats just as good.

a Sequel may be sweet...

SPOILER!!!!

.

.

.

In the bad ending all the little freak kids escape the place along with you, so the sequel could be completely different... wide open cities to attack, being able to drive around in vehicles. And since hes a big daddy now, he could throw cars around and knock over buildings. The underwater thing was way too cramped anways.

Plus you could truely play as a bad guy, harvesting civilians all over the place and turning them into spliced up freaks to do your bidding.

He's not a Big Daddy. I'm not sure if Fontaine was lying about it being irreversible or what, but you see in the good ending that he's still human.

I think a sequel would be cool. Just not a direct sequel.

If it's a sequel like Shadow of the Colossus is a sequel to Ico...sure, it could be neat.

There's plenty of story left in the Bioshock universe. I'd love to see life in Rapture when it started to go wrong, when the splicers and regular folks were fighting in the streets, how events unfolded to lead up to what we entered into. The city is much larger than what we saw in the game, and the idea of others fighting to escape is compelling enough to at least warrant a side story or a downloadable episode. You could also pull the old Jurassic Park trick and have another site that was a test before Rapture was started. I'm still convinced that Ryan isn't gone, so he could very well show up again.

The devs stated how much they loved working in the art deco style, and the new project they're working on has them missing it, so if a sequel/prequel happens it may not be the same team. I'd still love to see a true follow up to System Shock, complete with the RPG elements, inventory system, and the ability to go everywhere.

I thought Shadow of the Colossus was a prequel to ICO? Because now you know how the little boy got horsn :P.

A prequel for bioshock could be cool.

Honestly I have no qualms with any company making as many sequels/prequels to games or turning them into franchises and milking them for all it's worth if it's a game I like I'll buy it if not then I won't buy it. I'm very easy going with my gaming entertainment so I don't expect them to always come up with something new all the time and most of the times I'm very satisfied with sequels/prequels to games that I have enjoyed.
