I just noticed you seem to be using the original releases for games. 1987 was the NA release date for Zelda, it released in Japan in 86. Therefore I second Final Fantasy for your game for 1987.

No need to apologize, I was the one who told you 87. I usually go by the North American release dates (since I'm in North America). But here's my suggestions for the years you have multiple games. This is just based on what I remember being the most popular or what seemed to make the biggest impact, and not on personal preference. (If it was personal preference, I would choose Mario Kart over Street Fighter...)

Super Mario Bros. 3 didn't come out until 1989. I remember it distinctly because our first glimpse of it was in that Fred Savage movie, The Wizard.
One game per year is not feasible, by using that system you're not taking into account the important releases of each genre, another issue is that the three territories were completely separate until the late 80s/early 90s period when the markets started to converge, before then the "biggest game" would've been different for each territory.
For instance, Manic Miner, Jet Pac, and Chuckie Egg were most certainly the biggest games in Europe in 1983, but these games were unheard of in North America, in the US Miner 2049er and Jumpman were probably the biggest games of 83' (neither of which attained much popularity here at the time)
