Over the years Pokemon and Final Fantasy have established themselves as the top 2 Jrpg franchises, in the western areas. Which franchise would you rather have if only one could exist?
If based on their past games, FF. Based on recent games, Pokemon.Allicrombie
Gotta go with this. I've put more time into Pokemon Black alone than I have with any new (X or later) FF game in the last three years. My time with FFIV: The After Years has come pretty close, but that's old school-style.
My vote goes to Final Fantasy. I prefer having story and a cast of interesting characters, as well as not being afraid of a little change. (FFIV,VI-X,XIII) Pokemon has more or less been the same game since it released, with added pokemon and fighting gym leaders.
Overall quality and solidity and character design variety I'd choose Pokemon. I have liked some of the FF games (the SNES ones, and FF7) but I've never gotten attached to the characters (not even in 7) quite like I do in Pokemon games. My characters gets beat down in FF I'm like "bah, whatever" but have a Pokemon battle and a favourite gets KOed I'm pissed, haha. It's mostly about the characters to me, I'd choose the Pokemon roster of monsters over the FF characters.
Pokemon is more or less the same game with more characters over and over again, if I could only have one I would way rather have the chance at unique storylines and gameplay from FF.
Pokemans can't touch the classic Final Fantasies back in the day, it was like, pure magic.... Play IV-IX (sure they may be flaws in all of 'em, but these games are just astounding in their own right.) Pokemon is fun once you put the time in it, but the Final Fantasy franchise gave me more of a deeper and greater experience than all the Pokemon games combined. I will always be an FF fan no matter how much they Squeenix botches the next FF installment.
Well, probably Pokemon, only because I love R/B/Y, and only really enjoy the original FFs. I-IV, and VII. Didn't really get THAT into those of either though.

Um... not even close. Yeah FF is all over the place, Gamecube and Wii got it's own FF spin-off even. Crystal Chronicles.
