***POLL*** Which was last Generations' best game (from this list)?

This is a re-start of the Poll that was first presented in System Wars, we likely won't get as many votes here (very popular in that forum), but we can try.

If you pick a GTA game please make sure its one of the 3 games listed.....but not all 3 combined! The cover box art below is San Andreas but your pick can be any of the 3.

HL2 DOES NOT include Episode 1 and/or 2

Resident Evil 4 does not include the Wii version

Aww, bummer. I think Elraptor locked it. Oh well. He did have a point. THis kind of thread belongs in the Legacy Board. Out of all of those, I'd have to go with Metroid Prime. I still haven't beaten it yet, but I still love the crap out of it. Its the only one I've played from that list as well. lolKH-mixerX

I guess my point was that all 5 games are playable on current systems.....but he didn't see it that way, or at least after discussing with another mod.

I thought Metroid Prime was very uh metroid esque.....do not let the first person view fool you, in fact Prime's first-person view accented the fact that you are Samus in the game.

But yeah HL2 is a great game.

Well, everyone is entitled there own opinion, and just because you play as the same character doesn't mean that it is within the same boundaries. It is a good game in its own right, but it does not hold true to the metroid style gameplay. There is a huge differance with side scrolling third person and 3D first person. Saying it holds true to the formula is like saying Romance of the Three Kingdoms is the same as Dynasty Warriors, because you can play as the same characters. I realize I am going a little deep with this poll, but Prime was a letdown in my opinion even though I was prepared. Where as it set a bar for new metroid games to revolve around a new style of gameplay I feel as though they used the Metroid name to sell more copies. The same game being releasedusing othernames could have possibly flopped... just saying.

I can speak from the vantage point of a PC Gamer.......Vice City is excellent on PC.

To me though, Metroid Prime is about as perfect a game as i've ever played, HL2 not far removed.

I'm voting RE4. I 've played this and all the other GTA's and GTA is overated to me. I haven't palyed the others.

No, as i feel my fellow PC gamers would tell you from my Polls there, I try to be as unbiased as possible.

These are probably the most critically acclaimed games of last generation (I'm starting the generation upon the release of PS2, not the Dreamcast, the reason Soul Calibur, Deus Ex, or Planescape Torment aren't here) with one exception: Halo.

Actually in a sense a couple of these games are......Prime and HL2 are indeed my favs from last generation but i doubt hardly anyone feels they don't deserve to be here.

As for why halo isn't on here, I wished to have games from several different genres, so....

GTA = free-roaming Action game

Half-Life 2 = FPS

Knights of the Old Republic = RPG (Final fantasy X and BG2: Shadows of Amn were considered)

Metroid Prime = Action Adventure (with a first-person perspective)

Resident Evil 4 = 3rd Person shooter (hmmmm......just barely wanders into Survival Horror)

I decided to place HL2 on here instead of Halo, and I have played both.....if only one is on here, HL2 should be that one.

Voted for HL2, I still play this game through every few months, one of my all time favs.

Oooo this is tough, Half-Life 2 and KOTOR are tied for me, but I had to pick KOTOR over HL only because I like RPG's more than Shooters. Although HL2 is the best single player shooter I've ever played.

Many arguments are trying to place it as this generation's Chrono Trigger, I too am inclined to Burn my Dread at the doorstep of all other rpg's printed on discs.

Half Life 2 hands down. I've played, beat, and replayed that game more then any other game, I love it!

Heh, I own three of those titles (KOTOR, Half-Life 2, and Metroid Prime), but the only one I've played is Metroid Prime; I haven't touched the other two. Guess I should start them soon.

GTA III - First true 3d open world sandbox. Great game (all other GTA's have blown hard if you ask me).

Half-Life 2- just amazing, period.

But my vote goes to Metroid Prime. GTA was a natural progression, everything GTA 1, London and 2 did just in 3d. Half-Life2, also, natural progression. A better game than the first.

But Prime came out of left field, reimagined Metroid in its entirety. And did it without a hitch.

Prime was awesome, but RE4 is better for me.
