potiential nominees for best graphics in 2008

games that are coming out in 2008 which one do you think deserves the title best graphics of 2008.

- ninja gaiden 2 [xbox 360]

- gears of war 2 [xbox 360 = maybe late 2008 or 2009]

- haze [ps3]

- tom clancy rainbow6 las vegas 2 [xbox 360, ps3, pc]

- devil may cry 4 [ps3, xbox 360]

- resistence 2 [ps3]

- saints row 2 [ps3, xbox 360]

- halo wars [xbox 360]

I'm leaning toward Ninja Gaiden. I don't even think GTA should even be up there. I know Alan Wake isn't on your list, but if it makes it out in 08 it will have my choice.

Far Cry 2 looks amazing. Did you see the fire?!?!

Project Offset looks pretty good as well.

Consoles..hmmm not sure yet.

Well, until the games are actually out you can't make a real comparison.....I remember last year people claiming certain games would have uber graphics cause of doctored pre-release screens, and when the games finally released they didn't look good at all.

Anyway.....if I'd have to place bets based on what I've already seen in addition to developer track record (as in they've actually delivered great looking games in the past), then I'd say the following have a very good potential at being top graphical showpeices in 2008, that's if they actually release in 2008....

• Mafia 2
• Alan Wake
• Metal Gear Solid 4
• Far Cry 2

....in addition, Crytek is supposedly working on a second Cryengine 2 game that will come to PC, possibly in 2008....also, supposedly Battlefield 3 for PC is in the works over at DICE, and if past games in the series on the PC are any indication, then if Battlefield 3 arrives in 2008 it should also be a good showcase for graphics.

Not to mention Crysis will continue to be a top graphics showcase on any platform, even into the end of 2008...Cryengine 2 is currently just so ahead of pretty much any other currently engine out there, it'll be quite awhile before it's surpassed by another engine.

Crysis has the best graphics now and will still have them in 2008. I really don't see much surpassing the technical superiority of Crysis until at least late 2008/early 2009 when the new features programmed into the CryEngine 2 begin to get implemented into other engines.foxhound_fox

you're missing the point. crysis was released in 2007. i was looking for best in 2008. n only 2008 which games was released in that year.
