Ok, this is probably a stupid question but...

I've been meaning to buy the DLC from Borderlands 1 & 2, but I've concluded that it would be cheaper to just buy the Game of the Year editions of those games.

Now for the probable stupid part, if I buy different copies of Borderlands 1 & 2, will that affect the current my saved game data that I have with my current (regular editions) copies of Borderlands 1 & 2?

I'm regarding pc gaming below, but it should be included with console gaming as well

Your save files are on your computer, if there is an issue it should be as easy as copying the folders over or something I imagine.

For example, you can take your saves from a flashdrive from one computer to another computer.

Don't quote me on it, but logically I don't see any issues that should arise, for example, my save file transferred when I went from playing titan quest to titan quest immortal throne (same game but some more stuff)

I think you'll be fine since save files are functionally the same.

Either way, I have borderlands 2 on pc if you ever want to go a few rounds.

I own the X360 versions. So hypothetically, I all I would have to do is just transfer my saved data to a flash drive, then put the GOTY versions of my X360, and then using the flash drive again, transfer my saved data from the regular editions to the GOTY editions, correct?

In theory that should work.

Why do you need to transfer your saved files to a flashdrive? Did you buy this new Borderlands GOTY as digital and your older games are discs? You should be able to just start the newly purchased game and try to load a saved game from the location where you have the current saved games (like the system disc or a flashdrive, or the cloud). It should work if the saves are compatible, and they should be unless you saved them with a version prior to some update that became available between the time you last played it and today.
