I've made a similar statement before, because its true. The cast has always been as white as rice. Maybe they will do this still (we don't know much of anything about the game), but I doubt it.
Japanese developed games in particular rarely have an ethnically diverse cast. Its not classic racism, I'm sure, but it is an oversight that should be addressed because of the growing globalization of gaming.
So how exactly do you know that Chris doesn't end up teaming up with some black dude to do battle against the undead hordes, ala Leon with Luis Sera in RE4?
They've never had an asian character either. Capcom must be racist against their own people!
isnt ada wong asian?Smoothcriminalx
Oh that's right. I forgot about her.
I just think the whole racism thing here is ridiculous. The game could have been set in any other area of the world with any other group of people and racism would have never been brought up. Its a joke.

She's actually a cross-dressing James Bond, show's just what an open-minded guy Leon really is.
edge the blacks in africa in this game are seemed as vicious and savage beast they show no blacks fighting against the outbreak or anything it just shows a white guy comming down from the sky and killing blacks.Smoothcriminalx
Well its set in a village that's completely infected....they're supposed to be savage and vicious. How was RE4 any different, besides the color of the people?
A main black or secondary character ever. Im talking about the main storyline. Heres how RE5 should have been, A outbreak happens in a part of africa, a african soldier or militant is trying to escape the outbreak while fighting zombies and monsters along the way he could have been another selectable character like they did in RE2 leon/clair type thing.Smoothcriminalx
So you propose that Capcom completely ignore the principle cast from the entire series and build RE5 around an entirely new character to appease some attention whore who made up a phony controversy months ago that suckered idiots from across the internet into seriously discussing this non-issue?
I'm going with negative on this.
[QUOTE="Smoothcriminalx"]isnt ada wong asian?juradai
She seems to be asian in name only because she doesn't look very asian to me. :P
Perhaps she married an asian gentlemen. *shrugs shoulders*
I think I read somewhere that she's supposed to be half white/ half asian. I could be wrong though. Who cares anyway, she's just hot. That's all that matters.

isnt that what they did in RE2? I mean i dont remember leon having any connections with the members of the RE1 game besides being a rookie cop

How about the africans not effected by the plague? When there was a outbreak in RE2 not all the white people were effected so thats where leon and clair came into play. So where are the african main characters we can play as in RE5?

Nevermind that they introduced Clarie Redfield as well. You're grasping at straws and it isn't working.
I'm actually hoping for a lock on this thread.MarcusAntonius
Yeah, I think he's trying to make a big deal out of this for no reason also.

RE2 was set in a giant city. And I'm pretty sure not everyone was white.
You ignore the fact that RE4 was set up the same way as RE5. Where were all the people in RE4 fighting the plague?
Yea it isnt a big deal for you guys cause your not black.Smoothcriminalx
Oh boy....and he proves that he's just trying to cause trouble.
BTW, how do you know that people here aren't black? You can see them?
We don't know for certain if this takes place in Africa or the Carribean yet, but the fact is that anyone talking about racism here is grasping at straws. Where were the people claiming racism against Spanish-speakers when RE4 came out?MAILER_DAEMON

Whoa! You better stop it. You're starting to make sense, Rag. Knock it off.

They're less white than Leon and others involved-- the skin tone is a shade darker (though this may be because they stopped bathing after being infected with Las Plagas), and bear in mind that when most Americans hear Spanish these days, they don't think Spain, they think Mexico. To use your racism-based arguments, the sound of Spanish, even with a Castillian accent, invokes feelings of racism, regardless of skin color. Why do I play devil's advocate with this? Because stretching to find problems with RE4 is just like stretching to find problems with RE5. If you use the sterotype of Japanese people being xenophobic, then it stands to reason that any non-Asian is being racially profiled, since Umbrella is based in Europe, while the outbreak happened in America. Essentially, using that line of thinking, RE0 through CV is anti-American (there were zombies of all races throughout the games, and Kenneth of STARS was indeed black, while Enrico, leader of the Bravo team was of Latin American descent), RE4 is anti-European, and RE5 is anti-Hatian or African.
However, I don't believe any of that, which is why no one should be looking for problems where there aren't any. Just because they decided to put the game in a new setting doesn't mean that they're trying to exploit or target a race.

This is all WAY too much logic for this thread. Stop it.

My undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Semantics and hidden meanings are everything. :PI vote in Samuel Jackson to play the lead role.garey017
I support this. Also, OP, the first person to play the race card is usually the racist. BTW, you say "you guys aren't black", can you see the people behind the monitor? Can we see you? How do we know YOU are black? How do you know I'm not? How do you know I'm not a tri-sexual half black half russian midget eskimo elvis impersonator living in Las Vegas? How old are you? Seriously. Because if you say over 18, my faith in humanity will die. Slow and painful.
