I really hope that at some time in the past, there used to be a full-fledged forum dedicated exclusively to the PlayStation 2. Is my feeling true? I regret being late on the scene. I feel like PS2 has been torn to pieces here with all it's leftovers being dumped into the legacy platform forums! Please can anyone take me into the Flashback?
Yes, there was a PS2 forum for many years (up until about a year and a half ago) and it was still very active. But GS decided to scrap it and lump PS2 into legacy consoles. An understandable decision, but kind of sad considering the PS2 forum was still alive and well. They basically got rid of it at the same time as the XBox and Game Cube forums. The only problem I have with this is that XBox and GC really were "dead" consoles, and now it's 2009 and PS2 is still alive and pumping out games, albeit at a slower rate and of questionable quality.
of course there was a forum for PS2. same with Gamecube, Xbox, And I recal there was even a forum for the Gameboy advance at one point
It's obviously much easier for Gamespot to maintain forums for the current consoles. A 'legacy platforms' forum makes total sense to me. When the next Xbox comes out, the xbox360 forum will soon be lumped in the 'legacy platforms' forum too. Gamespot has been around for years......I dont remember, but there may have been a forum for the PS1 at one point.

PS2 is a legacy console. It fits in perfectly with the word legacy, because it may still be active - albeit not as much as it used to be - doesn't mean it's not a legacy platform. PS3 is the successor.

The XBox forum was still relatively active. At least as active as this forum is. I was there and extremely mad when I had to start posting on the same forum as so many PS2 fanboys...
