PS2 isn't Dead; It's still alive and kicking

Upon arguing with my classmates, it seems that PS2 owners are starting to dwindle compared to those who solely use next-gen consoles. This can't happen! I refuse to believe the very console that gave me countless hours of entertainment is disappearing from the very face of the Earth! I mean, come on, they are still making games for it. If anyone would like to share that they still play their PS2, in excess, and what games they play on it, PLEASE POST!:|

The same thing happened when PS2 came out, PS got less and less new games. At the same time, the PS2 is not "disappearing off the face of the EARTH", when millions of people still own the console, and it's still capable of playing games.

My NES is about 20 years old, it's not gone, it's still playable and enjoyable. The same situation with my Dreamcast. I still have my GameCube, it's not gone, even after the Wii came out. It's also the same with my Xbox, even when I have a 360.

Consoles only "die" when people either sell them, stuff them away in storage, or they quit functioning altogether, not when companies stop producing new content to use on them.

Along those lines, HD-DVD owners can still enjoy their movies on those players, even though very soon, there will no longer be new movies released in that format.

I am playing on my PS2 right now and enjoying every second. Being an RPG fanatic I love the PS2. It has come out with a very diverse selection of RPGs. The one I'm playing right now and just recently purchased was Rogue Galaxy. The PS2 will never die and my play time on FFX proves it: 250+hrs :P

Well, not quite soon unfortunately... P4 is only coming out in Japan this Summer. It will be a long while before we even see it get released here (unless you can read japanese and import it).

Well, you can keep on hoping; but I don't think it's likely. Just look at the history of releases of SMT games. P3 and FES took over a year before it came here; DDS1, DDS2, and Nocturne were just under a year.

Edit: also this is mainly applies for most RPGs anyway. Given how they're all incredibly text/dialogue heavy, it takes an incredible amount of time to translate and localize a game before it's released here.

Im playing Max Payne 1 & 2, Final Fantasy X-2, Xenosaga and Mercenaries. Believe me when I say this, THE PS2 IS STILL GOING STRONG......atleast till I can afford a next gen system.

Yea, honestly I have all three current generation consoles... but I'm finding myself still play all of my PS2 games more often than not.

I don't understand the fuss. Get over it. I still play my Xbox even though most PS2 fanboys have been happy to call it dead. It's not like it not being produced any more will interfere with the amount you can play it...

I have so many games I still need to get and beat for the ps2. It will be one of my main consoles for a long time to come.yentar480

No man the serverrs were shut down man. No system is ever dead as long as there is one person playing it in the world IMO.

Metal Gear RULEESS!!! it freakin rocks! and yesh its online feature its great!

I believe the PS2 is far from dead. It's possibly the best console ever made and will stand the test of time.

I previously owned a 360 and now have a PS2. The PS2 has much better games. I only have 4 games for it (GTA3, Vice City, San Andreas, GT3) but they are 4 amazing games. :D
