For someone that has always been a PC (graphics, versatility, etc) fan since the 90s, and has always preferred mouse/keyboard vs controller for some of the genres I play. I am now seriously considering purchasing a PS4 after seeing the news of the GDC2014 conference unveil of the Oculus Rift clone made by Sony; that will stream from your PS4!

The addition of virtual reality headset, if done properly, will be able to provide even $2k-$4k PC users a new experience they can't experience on high-end PCs, and the PS4+headset will seem like a bargain to them.

Thoughts?

My thoughts are that this will only further enhance the yummy horror games we are being progressively served more of, so I wholeheartedly approve. Outlast and Daylight on this thing would probably be pretty great.

I would control your enthusiasm. We are not sure what type of experience to expect, but I am excited to see other companies get back into VR.

My big concern is the quality of the VR, given the hardware limitations of the PS4.

I doubt Sony will release a VR headset that is not good, its probably up to standards of what the avarage person expects from a Virtual Reality experience, when average people hears the words Virtual Reality, they imedietly think about headmovement and to be able to look around and move inside of a virtual world and have the feeling of beeing there. Im sure Sony will be able to make that happen and they will probably launch their new VR headset with a well polished game especially made for VR. A good first impression is the keyword to succeed with this and they know it just as much as you and me.I have no doubt in my mind that Sony will succeed with this and so will OculusVR, they are not competing against eachother either, they are pretty much on the same team but operates in two different markets.

After a while i can imagine we will start to see everyone jumping in on the VR wave, sosial networks, apps, hollywood, dating sites, the porn industri, you name it. There is so much untouched potential in Virtual Reality.

I have a $300 Oculus Rift Dev kit about 3 feet from me right now as we speak. It works currently with the PC, a PC that isnt top of the line

Why would I care what PS4 does?...

Not following you here

Sony has a major advantage developing this new technology on one piece of hardware rather than having to worry about compatibility, and let's be honest, who has the bigger funding? Funding + 1 Platform will probably make the PS4 version a richer experience. Although only time can tell.

I'm not interested in VR headsets in the slightest. I honestly think it will be a fad that dies out pretty quickly. The types of games I enjoy the most wouldn't benefit from them in the slightest. I'm an oldschool arcady type of guy. Such a headset would make platformers, fighters, and Hack n slashes less playable. In fact, there are a good number of genres that wouldn't benefit from these devices. I suspect it will go down in history the same way 3D has.
