I will update when the full list gets available, but today is already a great day for a PSN update seeing as how we get Everyday Shooter, the demo for Ratchet and Clank, and the demo for Conan.

Everyday Shooter will retail for $9.99

It features 8 levels, and has been compared to Rez in that your actions in the game effect the music:

Here is a video of the game:

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/22395.html

Here is a developer profile on John Mak who made the game:
http://blog.us.playstation.com/2007/10/11/personality-profile-everyday-shooter-creator-jonathan-mak/

In celebration of the Ratchet and Clank demo I made an XMB wallpaper for the game:

I'm really looking forward to playing the Ratchet demo tonight.

EGM not-so-cryptically said this about the game: In taking a step back, Ratchet has taken a big step forward.

I'm assuming this means the new game is similar to the original and a huge departure from the underwhelming Deadlocked. In other words, more platforming, same awesome, evolving weapons.

You know the feeling when you forget the release date of a demo for a great game? I just had it. Thanks for posting this and also thanks for the wallpaper. Great job. EDIT: What's the size of the demo?

Everyday Shooter is really small, something like 38 MB, so you don't have to clear a whole lot of space.

Everyday Shooter is pretty incredible... So far this is my favorite of these kinds of games... it is much more laid back, and visually stunning.

I don't know if I'd put it above Super Stardust, buts its totally different vibe makes it a worthy companion piece. The graphics are just plain freaky (especially that stage with the expanding eye which is always looking at you).

Don't get me wrong, I really like SSHD, it is just a little too hectic for my personal tastes.  I also really like the chaining system in Everyday Shooter.

I was happy to see the Ratchet demo when I turned on my PS3 a while ago. I'm downloading it now.....hopefully it won't take forever.

After I see what Ratchet is all about I'm going to download Everyday Shooter. I've been waiting patiently to play this game. I think the fact that 1 guy made it makes me intrigued to see how the game is.

Is SSHD the game that's similar to Geometry Wars but better? or is it Flow?

princesszelda

He seems like a pretty nice guy too... this is a note he left in the game that is accessible from the main menu:

"In the Spring of 2005 I started work on what I called "the new game".  It was supposed to provide maximum replayablility and gameplay depth through ingenious game design innovations, but instead it was a complicated mess of rules and controls that were neither fun nor understnadable.  Somehow I lost myself in a ridiculous concocton of self-indulgent, games-are-art-theory-innovation wankery.  Truth is, the only things that mattered were the games that inspired me to make games in the first place.

Thus began my journey back to the roots of my gaming youth: the top-down-shoot-em-up.  From the c!assic shooters of yore to today's modern interpretations, I studied the works until I realized that even the simplest of things can be the most beautiful of things.  Armed with this little pieceof knowledge, I finally understood how to make the game I truly wanted to make.

A few months later Everyday Shooter was born.

I owe a lot to the inspirational work of Kenta Cho, Kanta "Omega" Matsuhisa, Tetsuya Mizuguchi, and countless others in the freeware community.  If this game is worth anything, it is because it was built on the shoulders of thiose giants.  I hope so dearly that I can repay my debt to them by inspiring someone else out there to create something greast.

Have fun, and good game!

R&C is just like the first R&C except in HD. Considering the ps2 R&C titles already have very high visual production values (which did wear off pretty fast), the ps3 version doesn't really seem like much of an improvement. Everything still looks, feels, and plays the same.

I couldn't disagree more... I was just coming in here to talk about how absolutely blown away I was by how great this looks.  This is the first Ratchet I've ever played, but after seeing this game in action it won't be the last.

I have to say R&C is simply amazing! What a great game! The demo is non stop action with great visuals and plenty of fun! First triple A Game on PS3 IMO. Everyday shooter is great also I just bought it, amazing 10 dollar title! I played through R&C demo completely I could not put it down, the mix of shooting, platforming and puzzle is just right and the humor is great. I have restored faith in Sony right now!

It really is top notch, I had to play the demo one more time before I go to bed.  Insomniac sure knows what's up.

Yeah, I played through the R&C demo disc twice earlier in the week, and I downloaded the demo again and played it through again tonight. The download has nicer graphics than the disc (not surprising as the disc is an older build of the game).

I've posted my Ratchet impressions before so I will skip that and get into the other demo... Conan. What a sad sad ripoff that game is. No imagination at all, it tries so bad to be a GoW clone. It looks pretty, thats about all I can say, other than that very generic. May turn out to be ok, but whats the point of playing an ok game when you can play so much better.

dvader654

That it is, yet I still enjoyed it. Those last three guys were unexplainably hard but it was fun trying to beat them. I think it would eventually get dull though, so that was the only thing keeping me from renting it.

I have mixed feelings regarding the demo. My 1 complain with it is that it is, well, a little boring. Advance, smack, smack, smack jump on rail, jump on the air thing, smack again and your done. It felt empty to me. Now to the good thing. The game looks absolutely stunning. No sing of jaggies anywhere. The city itself is beautiful, with all the cars passing by and stuff. Also worth mentioning is the sense of humor, which is just ok, but i assume we'll have plenty of laughs come the full game. I played the demo with the surround volume a little low, but the explosions and other sound effects really stood out. I'll crank up the volume when i play it again tonight. Overall, i'm satisfied with it. I just hope that the other levels become more entertaining and don't get too repetitive.

Ratchet and Clank plays a whole lot like prior games in the series, but stuff is on a bigger scale and much crazier (rail sliding was a much more sedate affair in Size Matters), the graphics are lusher and the world is more alive (more explosions, more traffic, etc.). Pretty much all I hoped the PS3 game would be.

I really wasn't feeling this either, that could be because I was playing GOWII and NGS earlier in the week.  That and I know absolutely nothing about the Conan mythos.

I only had time for one playthrough of Ratchet last night, but it felt like classic Ratchet amped up on steroids. Insomniac is getting very good at things like ambient explosions and set piece work. I feel tha they stuck to the same formula, but amped all the ancillary things going on around you to create a more epic setting for the game.

It feels very familiar, yet new. The graphics are very nice. The pacing is spot-on. The controls work well (although I could've done without the Sixaxis bit at the end). The weapons (the hallmark of any Insomniac game) are perfect (I upgraded the grenade on my playthrough).

So essentially it's Ratchet with next-gen graphics. But what really helps this game is the epic illusion created by things toppling over and explosions going off that aren't directly related to what Ratchet is doing. It gives the game a much welcomed sense of scale.

Very nice.
