I have been runing this game for over a year on a Windows 7 (64 bit) PC and now I built another one and can't get it to run?

Might have something to do with win7 service pack 1, it's been causing all kinds of issues for a lot of people.

SP1? Haven't installed it i don't think, so those people must be going out of their way to install it, just asking for trouble. Did you try compatibility mode TC?

By pure experimentation I am able to get Quake 4 to run on my Windows 7 64-bit PC (already with SP1). I simply copied (not installed) an existing installation of the game from a Windows XP PC, then runit as is (no need to fiddle with compatibility settings). Bingo - it ran.
