Quake Wars... is it really that bad?

i was looking at it and it seems kind of fun, i never actually played it. why did it get a bad review? are there still people playing online? and is online fun?\

Its not bad, but its worse than the BF series and it is worse than Enemy Territory.

It scored about the same as BF2 diddnt it? (atleast on this site).

No Quake wars is not a bad game at all, It is infact quite good if you like the "battlefield type" of fps ^^ Units generally has access to far more devestating abilities, and it is a whole lot faster then games like BF2.

Some of the design choices I did not care for, but they were all minor quirks. Still seems to have a dedicated following aswell. Reinstalled for a few months last summer and it had a pretty impressive amount of people on then (was afraid all servers had shut down)

It's not absolute poo, but there are better games of it's type out there which came out around the same time, so it's pointless.

It wasn't the best, but it was pretty good. It only had a few minor issues.

I wanted to like it but i hated it:( Can't stand it when tanks feel like mini suvs, not 66 ton war machines. Also there wasn't as much freedom as i thought there would be.

The game didn't feel...right. The infantry play was somewhat confusing and unsatisfying, I never quite felt as though I was actually shooting at an opposing player and making a difference.

Vehicle play was terrible. They did not feel right at all, in fact even being in a tank leaves you incredibly vulnerable to basic small arms. Aside from this the camera mode while in vehicles is awful, as well as the controls.

As for people still playing, I'm pretty sure that there still is a good amount. I know that Steam offers a demo of the game, which includes multiplayer, so I'd reccomend downloading that first.
