I have tried DC Universe Online on PS3. and while i had fun with it for a while, i ended up burning myself out within three weeks. I think it was primarly because it was very hard to get into the community aspect.

So now i'm looking at two MMO's that are still peaking my interest, The Secret World, and Star Wars : the Old Republic.

My question to MMO players on this forum is this. Do you commit yourselves to one MMO only? or do you balance it between MMO game and the other games (from AAA to whatever)?

What is it about MMO's that keeps you playing? the community or is it the grind?

I've only played one MMO at a time. I would never have enough time to keep two going at once. It was hard for me to even have time between the MMO (WoW), and my console games. Eventually I gave up WoW. Not enough time to play it and console games, and I'd rather just play my 360 and PS3.

Main thing that kept me going was a handful of friends that I'd met and known in game for 3+ years. One by one they quit over a year or two stretch and once most of them were gone I didn't really have much of a reason to play. Besides my friends quitting, the grind was one of the main reasons why I quit. Didn't feel like putting in the time to get what I wanted in game...just wasn't worth it any longer. Started to feel more like a job than a game.

I always play 1 MMORPG at a time, since it already consumes a lot of time to get a decent character started. Besides I always like to get immersed in the particular game world as much as possible, which is harder if you play 2 different MMORPGS at the same time.

What keeps me going forward is ofcourse the fun I have while playing the game, as well as the community. But also to achieve certain goals I've set for myself. For example to get a full high end armor set, or something else like getting 2-3 classes at max level etc.

I'vr only played DCUO which in my opinion gets very dull very quickly. All the missions are basically the same. There was no events and just nothing fun happened. You also barely ever saw any other players. Defo not worth paying for each month. There shouls have been 100% more content. ano this has nothing to do with the actual topid but since i aint played multiple MMO's i couldnt talk about that haha.

1 at a time and usually I don't play other games with it.

If I feel the need to play other games with an MMO then it's not that good.

Only MMO's I found worth my time are Eve-Online and World of Warcraft.

Used to be heavy into them but the past few years I've sworn them off.

Played Ultima Online, Everquest, Asheron's Call, CoH/CoV, Planetside

MMO games typically work with immersion, when you start playing it you take the role of a character and after a few hours of playing you will want to make it the best you can be. This is why some MMOs are extremely popular, players find themselves not leaving the game until they feel like they have "achieved something" to some people that can be reaching max level others can be maxing out a skill such as cooking/alchemy and such it varies.

I can honestly say I find it impossible to play 2 MMOs at once for this reason, to get anything out of these types of games you literally have to get right in there and understand the game world. (I'm an ex wow player with 4 years of play behind me, tried most other MMOs too ^^)

One good MMO should take up more than enough of your time if you commit to it.

I played Final Fantasy XI almost daily for 6 1/2 years (Isobel of Karasu on Titan), and it was definitely the community that kept me in... but when too many friends left, the game died for me too. The grind is great, but that's mostly because it gives you something to do with all your friends :)

I tried to balance MMO + other games, but I rarely got around to playing other games because there was always something to do in MMO-land. I played a little bit on the side, but then maybe once a year a Fallout or something would come out, and that would give me a refreshing 1 month break from the MMO.

If you find a good MMO with a friendly community + some close friends, it's truly a wonderful gaming experience like no other!!

Probably in the minority but my biggest gripe with the mmorpgs is that in order to accomplish anything you literally have to treat the game like a second job. You want to see everything in game, or try to kill that big boss? Punch your time card and get that bedpan ready because you ain't going to go anywhere for awhile. Other things are the elitist attitude that a lot of players seem to develop and the way the economies always spiral out of control. I haven't seen the original eq played in about 5 years....but I know it's still around. I can't imagine how much money some of these things in the bazar are going for now! I just wish they would set up servers for different styles of Play. The super hard core grinders get thief own server. The casuals get theirs, the people who only do pick up groups are on another one e.t.c

One at a time, and if I get burnt out, I switch (between WoW and EVE). These games take commitment, time and patience. They're enjoyable over the long term.

I usually only play MMOs with someone else and play other games if this specific person isn't around. This person is usually my brother or girlfriend ^^

Exactly what I was going to say. I can't imagine having enough free time to play more than one MMO... at least not seriously. Casually dabbling in a couple of MMOs side by side is another thing entirely. And the MMOs that I have given time and commitment to made me do that because of a combination of gameplay, setting and community. The ones that have only two of the three get me hooked for a couple fo months at most, but can never really grab me long-term.

Like most everyone has said, I only play 1 at a time :) My friends are definitely what is keeping me there - sometimes I'll sit in stormwind (Yes, Warcraft) and chat away for a bit. If my friends all quit, I probably would as well. I generally play a couple hours of Warcraft and then an hour of a game on my Xbox or something.

You know you found the right game when it consumes your life and your soul. So one game would be the answer :P ...WoW would be my pic but i resigned :)
