Does it look OK? I'm talking about downloading it from Playstation Network after buying those point cards. How does it play? I have the PC version, that had bugs in it, so i couldn't get past the chocobo races. Decided it was too much trouble to download some patches that would fix the bug, since other problems might come up, and might therefore destroy what progress i made in the game.

Well from what I heard about the PSN port is that it varies in the region you're in and what PSP you have it on as well as if you downloaded it directly or downloaded the file and put it on your PSP after from a PC. But if you have a 3000 and in the U.S., there should be no large problems, some graphical glitches here and there, maybe some slight slowdown within some battles, but it should be mostly fine. I can't guarantee stability though (Black screens, freezes etc.) Because I heard some had problems with it and some didn't Just be sure to save often. Although sometimes it's as simple as a reset. Nothing to big really, as long as you never try getting int on Sony phones which all have extreme problems with all FF games then it should just be a matter of some slowdown and some graphical glitches. Heard there was some audio issues with PAL.

Shockwave, what specifically are the differences of downloading it directly or downloading the file and putting it on to PSP from a PC? What do you mean by that? Sorry, i recently got the PSP, not aware of those things.

Downloading the file and putting it on the PSP actually causes less errors. Audio and such doesn't have problems, less graphical issues if any at all, animations, frame rate, and controls feel smoother as well. The main difference I have noticed many times with PC to PSP, and direct downloading is that separates the two the most are that when you download directly, the game loads faster, saving is faster and less corrupted, (with quite a few games actually.), and the picture is clearer in areas (depends on the game. When you put the file from PC, there are less gameplay related problems with the actual game, audio and video are much better, especially FMV related cutscenes as well as things I described above. Also, lack of download glitches like random areas of the game crashing as much if at all with faster games. So it really depends. But I would do a PC to PSP transition for all Rpg like games myself with the exception of Suikoden or Breath of Fire series which work better with direct downloading. Outside of rpgs. Most more 3D games open world or not, that have a lot of detail, like Syphon Filter or Crash bandicoot, or Spyro, etc. are games I would use PC-to PSP for. More 2D related game or anything similar, like maybe overhead games, Strategy games, 2D games Symphony of the Knight, or Racing games i would direct download.

Well it's pretty much the exact same code as the original PlayStation version. The main differences are you'll be using the buttons for the turn-based battles rather than a keyboard.

If you never downloaded any patches at all, then I guarantee the PS1/3/P version will actually look better (smoother FMV's and prerendered backgrounds) and have a superior soundtrack. If you did download the anti-aliasing patches or the PC version, then you'll notice the overworld and battles looking considerably more jaggy. (it's how the game was originally made though)

So the PC version was actually less visually good? And i have to say, i think if you did not have a specific sound card or GPU, the PC version looks and sounds not very good, so that doesn't turn out alright considering that today, those items are probably very very outdated and old, and most people wouldn't have them right now.

Just speaking from experience. I wish I had the specs on hand and the sound card model, but it's been a while now and I'm tech illiterate. The computer I originally played it on was a Pentium 4 circa. 2002 (decent for its time). I'd like to think the sound card was decent, but FFVII on my PC had a very tinny sound and none of the punch from the PS1 version.

Yeah, in terms of graphics at the time it came out, you were better off sticking with the PlayStation version. The low-res pre-rendered backgrounds and cutscenes were upscaled to fit computer monitors and it just looks like @ss.

Didn't the PC version have an aweful MIDI-soundtrack that is also sampled at low bitrates? FF7 on PC was/is an aweful port and you should enjoy it on a Playstation System by all means, if only for the soundtrack as it was intended.

I have PAL version of FF7 on my PSP3000, no issues encountered whatsoever. You can even remap buttons, stretch/resize image, adjust sound etc.

Dunno what you mean by PAL version. I assume i will just download it from PSN, from PC, then move to the PSP. Been a while since i touched the PC version, but i think it said that it failed in the, "triangular palette" stuff or something like that. The sound was probably inferior to the PSx or PSP version, i think it sounded like synthesizer music.

OK, here is something that is a potential spoiler, depending on how far you've played FF7: **Spoilers** OK, so other than getting Yuffie, is there anything else that is optional? I do not want to miss something big like a character, or anything important.

What do you mean by the bolded? And is there anything else optional? I will read the walkthrough you posted a little later, got stuff to do.
