Legend of dragoon, I have seen this game all over, but at the same time, people are asking $60 for it. This is in real life to and not the internet so any info on that game would be nice.Shockwave-DASHA pretty good game, my favourite JRPG up to today. It's weakpoints are the repetitive battlesystem (they added a good unique idea to the classic JRPG but it ended up a bit boring) and the music. Also, it was localized rather poorly but ok. The story is quite well told and has a good share of plot twists. It's a bit rare because didn't get very much attention. Probably because FF IX was released roughly around the same time. Some "FF-clone" seemed rather uninteresting. Gladly, I got my hands on a demo, so the game could hook me pre-release. If you have a PS3/P/Vita you can get it as a downloadable game for $10, unless you want the hard copy for your collection. Oops, I forgot the PSX part of your topic. The following text is about a PS2/3 era game series. I don't want to delete it now that I already wrote it. On other games, I liked the Ar tonelico trilogy quite a lot. The second one being the best in my opinion. All three have a different, ratzher unique battlesystem - you basicaly protect the reyvateils (mages) with the front fighters until they collected enough sound magic to kick some butt. Sounds boring but especially in At1 and 2 quite well made. At2 has my favourite battlesystem overall. The games storywise have a strong focus on the characters relationships.
legend of dragoon is great i got my copy for 25
its a great game the grafs are pretty nice the fmv is a little meh but the game is not a final fantasy copy cat so try it out its fun sometimes it moves a little slow meaning the story and the fighting in the begining is a little repetetive but over all its worth a decent amount of cash and its a must play for any psx rpg fan
and dnt buy it for 60 the game is worth about 30 to 25
While Suikoden does play in typical turn-based rpg fashion, it's great music, story and memorable characters gave Suikoden 1&2 very solid spots in my list of favorite rpgs of all time. Part of the fun is searching every town and revisiting places later in the game to find and recruit the 108 stars of destiny into your army; some of them are hidden quite well. As you find more of the characters, your castle base actually grows and changes to reflect it. For just $6 on psn, I would strongly recommend it.
Xenogears is good.
And Alundra is a really good game as well. It plays just like A Link to the Past, but has a darker story and feel to the game. Plus the game is longer, and has some of the hardest puzzles to figure out. I personally love the game, and feel that it is way underrated.
Xenogears is the greatest console RPG ever created, the only alternative is Planescape Torment (which is the greatest WRPG ever created). The characters and story are so complex and interesting it's just in a league of its own. This is why i haven't found any other JRPG that kept my attention.
The only downside are the random encounters, which are incredibly frustrating later on the game.
What's on disc 2? Most say the game pretty much becomes i the mediocre rage with disc 2 on all websites i posted this and you are the only one who hasn't mentioned disc 2.Xenogears is the greatest console RPG ever created, the only alternative is Planescape Torment (which is the greatest WRPG ever created). I enjoyed legend of dragoon, while it may not be critically praised by everyone out there it is a unique game. It's unforgiving at parts and actually quite hard compared to most of other RPG's. The save/rest portions are well placed, making simply traversing some areas quite difficult. Furthermore it has optional bosses and a interesting combat system.
In addition the story in itself has some interesting twists.

Item management is one of the most important parts in LoD because the inventory is so very limited. Also, many of the people who say that LoD is hard are people who try to level up all 7 characters which is extremely time consuming and inefficient because bosses are the only enemies who give a proper amount of EXP. LoD was designed to concentrate on one specific 3-man squad and pretty much ignore the other characters that you don't use. Once a new character joins the party check their stats and decide immediately wether they become an active or passive member and stay with the decision. From my perspective LoD is actually quite average in the difficulty department. The Ar tonelico trilogy was much easier but most Final Fantasy games are harder.

The majority of Disc 2 is basically 70% mini-book (cutscenes and dialogue describing a series of events to move the story foward, instead of you playing in those events like on the first disc) and 30% gameplay (fighting bosses between those events described above, doing some key points here and there). Gameplay-wise, there's little exploring and no new towns. At the end things change to be similar to the first disc (more gameplay).
I was dissapointed, but it wasn't a game breaker because i liked the story and the ending was breath taking, and worth it all.
