I have an Xbox 1 and Halo 2. My younger brother loves Halo to death and likes playing splitscreen battles with me occasionally.

We want to try the new maps. Is there any way to get the free downloadable maps for Halo 2 without having to pay for a Xbox Live subscription? No one in this household has any interest in such a subscription and it would be a waste of money and time.

I was under the impression that a freely available Silver account would get you in the door and allow you to download free stuff, but apparently that is not the case (at least on Xbox 1 anyway). I am not able to proceed in the account creation process without entering a registration code.

There's something in the shops called Halo 2 Multiplayer Map Pack and it has 9 new maps that were released around 2005. If that's all of the downloadable maps available for Halo 2 then that's the only way I know of getting them without Xbox Live. If there are more than 9 new maps available for Halo 2, then I don't know where to get the others.

You may try and look for a free 48 hours gold subscription card (you may find one with some xbox games), this should give you more than enough time to download your maps ;)

That sounds good; I'll see if I can find one (or ask a fried with a 360). Thanks, both of you!

If you can't find a two day card, you could get Xbox Live for a month or so and get all of the updates for all of the games in your collection. There might be other updates about which you were not aware. That's what I plan to do one of these days. (I want to play PSO really, really bad. Darn you Sega!)
