My brother decided he wants to buy a steering wheel to go with a racing game, and since I'm more into gaming he has set me with the task of giving him the shopping list. Should I recommend him to buy a PS2 just for that? I've done my homework and reached the conclusion that the Driving Force Pro is the wheel to get (and it works with both PC and PS). Buying a PS2 obviously costs more, but from what I could find the PlayStation 2 has much better racing games; GT4, Burnout 3, Midnight Club etc. as opposed to GTR 2, Race 07 and DiRT. Now, it may just be me, but the playstation games just look cooler; the PC ones are more meh-ish. What's your take on this? Did I miss any other good PC racing games?

(PS - I tried to ask already, but does anybody know if it's possible to connect two steering wheels to the same PS2 for split-screen multiplayer?)

Thanks!

What about the Xbox and Xbox 360? There is the Need for Speed series, the Burnout series, the FlatOut series, the Forza series, the Project Gotham Racing series, the Midnight Club series, the Juiced series, and I'm sure there are more...

Thanks for replying! However, since my problem with buying a PS2 is money, the 360 only makes it worse... and since the original XBox was discontinued along with it's peripherals, I think it'll be more convinient to stick with the PS2 (which also has Burnout, Midnight club, and Need For Speed).

Ok, 1st you don't mention the age of your brother. Is he into sim racers or arcade. For PC games there is the GTR series which is a very real sim racer. You can get a new silver PS2 for like $130.00. But if he's into arcade games then stick to Burnout, Midnight Club. If he's really into cars and wants to learn all about them then you can't go wrong with GT. If you can find all 4 GT games, buy them and that will keep him busy for a while learning about cars.

lol yeah I did forget about that... he's in his late 20's (and has a driver's licence), honestly I'm not really sure what gave him the idea (not that I have anything against it, he's just really not into gaming). So do you think the 130$ are worth it if you want the "experience"? about the arcade vs. sim, I'm not sure he really has a formulated opinion about that, so I think I'll advise him to buy one of each.

If he's going to spend a good amount of time playing it then yes it's worth the money to get it for him. If it's something that he might drop after a few weeks of playing then it's not worth wasting the money. But that's up to you to decide if it's a quick fad or something he'll spend time with and enjoy. That's the hard part of all this.
