Final Fantasy Tactics has the best story.. and will never be surpased by any other videogame that has been or will be created.
Which one had the constant dream-sequence cut scenes that brought the game to a painful screeching halt of craptitude? I mean, I actually STOPPED PLAYING because of that, and I LOVE the FF series. I beat the original FF without sleeping.
Besides that one, I can't even compare the rest. They all rocked

weirjf
I have trouble deciding between FFT and FF VII at #1...perhaps they're tied. But after that-
FF X
FF VIII
FF XII
FF IX
FF VI
FF X-2
FF IV
FF I
You can include other Square/Enix games if you'd like.pink_floyd123
Here best top, worst bottom. (I'm not going to put any Dragon Quest game in here because A] I don't want to disrespect that series traditional story and storytelling B] my list might end up too long. Also I'm not listing games that hasn't been released in America)
Final Fantasy Tactics (Best video game story I've seen for far, at very least in my opinion)
Final Fantasy VII
Xenogears
Chrono Trigger (childish story? Maybe, but still good)
Final Fantasy VIII disc 1 (I try very hard to forget this game had more than 1 disc)
Valkyrie Profile
Valkyrie Profile 2 (maybe because I'm such a sucker for Norse Mythology)
Star Ocean
Secret of Mana
Vagrant Story (wow can't believe im putting this one so low)
Saga Frontier II
Chrono Cross
Parasite Eve (unrealistic but entertaining)
Star Ocean II
Final Fantasy XII (Yes I put this over VIII, IX, X, and even VI)
Breath of Fire (Square published it and the game came out under Square's name, so I'm putting this in)
Saga Frontier (Had some excellent bare to the bone stories. Would've been around top if they put some meat on those stories, especially Asellus storyline.)
Final Fantasy VI
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy IX
Illusion of Gaia
Brain Lord
Mystic Quest
Thread of Fate
Final Fantasy IV
Star Ocean III
7th Saga
Secret of Evermore
Kingdom Hearts
Kingdom Hearts II
Final Fantasy XI
Robotrek
Final Fantasy VIII (all 4 discs)
*If you see some games missing, it means I didn't play them yet or I didn't remember them while I was making this list.

How the heck can you notput Suikoden II & III on that list?
Anyway, back to topic, FFVII's story is striking only because of Aeris's, you know. But most memorable for me would have to be FFVI all because it was the FF game that made me like FF in the first place.
10. Final Fantasy 10
9. Final Fantasy 8
8. Final Fantasy 4
7. Final Fantasy 5
6. Final Fantasy 6
5. Final Fantasy 9

Suikoden series is not developed nor published by Square or Enix or SquareEnix.
That's why I didn't add them.
FFVI
FFIV
FFXII
FFT
FFIX
FFV
FFI
Final Fantasy: The Spirit Within (It actually has a very good story, but, because of the time restraint of it being a movie, it's not the deeply involving storyline thyat games such as FFXII are)
anything I have not mentioned yet
FFVII
FF: Crystal Chronicles
FF: Mystic Quest
FF:Mystic Quest
FF: Tactics Advance
That gay anime Unlimited or whatever
That embarrassment to FFV's great name FF: Leegend of the Crystals
That aweful series for the GB that wasn't even Final Fantasy, but bore it's name (Legends I think it was called)
Embarrassing and poorly written fanfics that serve as nothing more than a laugh at how horrific they are.
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children
Final Fantasy VIII
I have not played II and III enough to know where they fall
ff 7
ff 6
ff 8
ff 12
ff x
havent played ff9.. got put off by the silly sound effects and the over large heads. had played ff8 before this and i was wth?? this is supposed to be final fantasy?
i havent played all the FF's so ill list the ones i have from worst to best
5.FF7
4.FF8
3.FFX
2.FFXII
and the best is
.
.
.
1.FFT (tactics)
1.FF X
2.FF VII
3.FF X-2
4.FF VIII
5.FF IX
6.FF XII
as conclusion, final fantasy X is da best ever game in final fantasy series..FFXII is worst...
1. FFVII
2. FFX
3. FFVI
4. FFIV
5. FFV
All of the above games have great storylines as far as I am concerned, but that is just my list of how much I liked them in order.
6. FFX-2
IMO FFX-2 had one of the worst storylines I've ever seen in a role-playing game. The storyline was almost non-existent and it pretty much destroyed the awesome story in FFX. It also had to relevance to that game whatsoever except the 100% perfect ending which wasn't even very good IMO.
I've also played FFIX and FFXII but I never finished them so I didn't bother placing them anywhere.
